Had a try for standing tickets at Scarborough, but showing none available. Can it really have sold out yesterday to Barclaycard holders? Maybe they'll be onsale tomorrow.
There are seated tickets available, but I don't fancy paying £70 to sit the other side of a road from the stage, seems pointless without the atmosphere of a crowd. I'd rather sit at home at watch my old Park Is Mine / Brixton videos.
I was after a seat (back problem makes it painful for me to stand all day) but didn't receive an e-mail/code for the pre-sale. Looks like I'll have to pray for tomorrow morning.

It took me about 4 attempts to get standing tickets. It kept saying they were unavailable and then suddenly they were, weird.
Ach, what a weird experience. I haven't had to 'try' for tickets since the 1990s. Good for Pulp if they sell out venues at 60, and 20 years since an album. Would try for tickets at Sheffield, but can't avoid work on Friday, and based on this, the hometown gigs will disappear instantly.
Transcribed a bit of Jarvis from Lauren Laverne's BBC6 show this this morning, on why this was the right time for the band to go again 10 years after their last gigs:
"Somebody made me an offer, a promoter came up with an idea and I said 'ok that's interesting but you're going to have to let me think about that', I suppose I had been thinking about Pulp a bit because I wrote my book that came out earlier this year which was about when the group first started off so maybe that put some kind of idea in my mind, but I thought about it and then eventually, there wasn't like one thing that made me think 'ok, let's do it' but I just thought 'yeah, why not'."
So nothing really groundbreaking, Jarvis mentions it's only in the UK and Ireland, but then he says 'we'll see' as far as taking things further, and that they are going to be doing some more rehearsing this month, and that he's sure that they will probably play in other places around the world, but it seemed appropriate to do it here first.
Yeah, he also mentioned that listening back to the songs and them sounding "alright" helped him make his mind up.
I like that he was honest about it. Pulp's management must get offers every year from promoters to do a summer of festivals and stand-alones so if the risk is on the promoter and you're going to be handsomely rewarded, why not do it especially as its been a decade since the last time, there's still lots of love for the group and you're not getting any younger? Jarvis is quite a physical performer so I'm not sure he'll still be able to jive around a stage with so much gusto another decade hence.
He also said that rehearsing the songs again surprised him at how high some of them are, vocally. That does worry me a bit as he strains or ducks-out of certain high notes live, as it is. I would rather they lower the key of the song instead of him "talking" the peak notes or having to come down an octave.
Well then, how bad do we think getting tickets tomorrow might actually be? lol Ideally I'm looking to buy tickets for both nights in Sheffield. It all feels a bit weird to be honest.
Im very nervous for tomorrow, Im only trying for one Sheffield date. Standing. I know its probably my algorithms on my phone but it feels like the entire world and its dog are all of a sudden huge Pulp fans.
Good luck to those on the other side of the Atlantic! I was hoping to get a ticket but I don't think my visit to relatives in Europe will coincide. I look forward to how they'll sound and what they'll play regardless!

On ticketmaster is for every thing including other bands & festivals. I am 17000 or so
Ah, that's reassuring - thanks. Seems to be moving fairly quickly - up to 5814 now. Been a while since I've bought tickets on release - nail-biting stuff!

Got straight through on seetickets. Ended up getting standing for Sheffield and Warrington weekender. Yayyyyy. Easier than I dreamed off!
Now glastonbury on Sunday

Absolutely bonkers. I ended up with seated tickets for Sheffield on the Friday. Tried for a few others but didn't get anything else. I see Viagogo are already listing resale tickets
Got two tickets to the Saturday Sheff gig! They're up in the nose-bleeds, but I'm just happy to be going! Definitely backed the wrong horse with Ticketmaster - should have used Seetickets, but by the time I went to make the switch, they'd all gone from there. Oh well, lesson learned for next time, I suppose.

I got my Finsbury Park tickets and very happy. Only 4 and daren't try for anymore so decisions to be made on who stays home. One happy Pulp fan and hoping for more gigs to come but if not, Finsbury Park is cool and quite fitting as I technically first saw them there in the NME tent at a day fest thing back in the early 90's. Now to stop my older heart racing away with adrenaline... Madness!
Didn't manage to get tickets for either Sheffield date, can't quite believe it. I got a ticket for Suede in a tiny venue no probs. Im a bit shellshocked to be honest.
I can't believe how lucky I got with that. I was flabbergasted at joining the queue on Ticketmaster ten minutes before sale and being 22,000 in the queue.
Nearly went for Cardiff tickets after that but wasn't paying that much and then £8 service charges per ticket on top for an inconvenient date.
Then gigsandtours - got straight on and hoovered up what looks to be one of the last lot.
I love Pulp but that demand was mental. I can only presume a lot will be resale arseholes etc.
Scott, I would keep an eye on Twickets leading up to the days before the gigs. There'll be tickets on there and at face value.
I got Bridlington, Sheff 1 and Finsbury. I've had to Klarna/PayPal some of it over 3 months as I'm also trying for Glastonbury on Sunday (though I know that only requires a £50 deposit initially).
Those who got Dublin, did you go for the Gold Circle?
This year I've had the pleasure of seeing Yard Act for <£20 and Suede twice for <£30. This is a huge difference.
Divine Comedy were £35 or less for me at Barbican, but I did 5 nights. Also suede in Camden was less than £30, and similar for Maximo Park. A few gigs coming up just over and under £30.
Nearly £80 to stand in a field in Norf London is a lot.
Been a while since Ive messaged on here! Well the ticket buying was an interesting experience. Keep looking people, especially on Gigs and Tours, as lots of random ones keep appearing.
Long story short, Ive ended up with a random seat ticket for the Fri at Sheffield its one of the £90 ones, but on the plus side, its a great seat. I then got a random Sat seat with the same method. As Im a soppy bugger Id rather do the second night, as it might well be their last ever homecoming
No doubt someone will buy it but no mates want it and so hardcore Pulp fans are my next choice! Drop me a message if youre interested in the Fri seat.
Congrats to everyone who managed to get tickets, that was proper stressful after the pre-sale disappointments!
Managed Bridlington, Scarborough (standing) and both Sheffield nights (seated). It's not been cheap but this may be the last chance, so worth it to me.
Got a Cardiff ticket, what a struggle!
Such a shame its mostly large venues, last time round Brixton and Royal Albert Hall were my 2 favourites!
Wonder if they will do any smaller venues later down the line, or the promoter favours Arenas/outdoor for volume of potential tickets to sell??

Likely to do what happened last time and play indoors from September to May.
I suspect there is more money to be made with 40,000 in a field than 6,000 in Albert Hall or 5,000 at Brixton. Can't say I think of either as small venues, but you can get close to the stage at both.

Resale for profit isn't that prevalent these days with eTickets. I have noted that lots of tickets become available on Twickets close to the date for lots of gigs. Can only list at up to price paid including fees. Twickets add around 10%.
It was similar demand last time around and even back in 1990s. Ever since Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 1994, Pulp tickets sell very quickly.
They must have been VIP ones where Alex Turner has to engage you with small talk (not sure he's capable to be honest) ehen posing for a photo with the band.
once hawley was announced....i had the wife interested in the idea of flying over....but alas, no luck this morning. oh well....praying the "so far" means at least a NYC show
Two nights in Sheffield Premier Inn for £400 ??? Hotels in the centre are ASTRONOMICAL. I managed to just book an Ibis in Rotherham for 2 nights, 82 quid

Ditto Dublin. Will be in Ireland that weekend, but an extra couple of nights in Dublin is another 400 Euro. Might just head direct to Tipperary where its just 80 Euro.

Travelodge wanted £399 when I checked this morning.. Bloody TRAVELODGE.
Eugh, Travelodge. My mother and I had to live in one for two weeks in 2015 when we looking for rented accommodation after the house fire. (The insurance paid for it) It was absolutely horrific experience for both of us, until my mother pressured the insurance company to move us to the Premier Inn down the road.
It was nicer but then again it was small comfort for losing everything I owned.
Anyway when I went to Sheffield in September I stayed at Russell Scott's Hostel in Upperthorpe. It was basic but it was nice, even if I had to share the female dorm.
Edit: Bugger.

Assuming Pulp get added to Glastonbury, I think that would make them the first band to ever get 'relegated' from being a Pyramid headliner to a lower ranking slot ... With the exception of surprise special guest slots such as The Killers, Pulp themselves or Radiohead.
Certainly no shame as it shows they've remained relevent even after the hits and stardom of the mid-90s, but an interesting fact none-the-less.
Folk are speculating a Pulp followed by either Elton John or Arctic Monkeys headline for Glasto. Both are an intriguing proposition. I absolutely hate camping and being surrounded by people 24/7 but I'm going to try for Glastonbury tickets tomorrow morning for the one and only time.
I think I created the prediction of them subbing for AMs! Jarvis to appear, dancing, to I Bet You Look Good... with AMs. Other stage headliners is also on the cards.
Call into my folks place in Kilkenny, they might put you up
Got the address?
My wife's family are in Tipperary if needed, but alas I don't know anyone in Dublin. Finsbury Park will do for this summer. Only the price of an underground ticket, assuming no strikes...
Think Travis have played much lower since headlining, and Skunk Anansie were back last year. Then theres the Chems who I guess have been relegated to the Other, though of course theyre not a band really.

I'd never go to Glastonbury, but Pulp and Arctic Monkeys on the same bill would be a dream for me. The last two AM albums have been phenomenal- they've come a long way since their early stuff. Although tbh I'd prefer Jarv Is supporting Arctic Monkeys- it's interesting how similar they sound these days!
Found a (very basic) hotel on lastminute.com Sunset Suite on City Road. £81 for 2 nights with shared bathroom but very near the train station. Not sure but I think I might have to share a room but I'm not that bothered.

I believe that accolade would go to Echo & The Bunnymen, but many others have followed, including The Levellers, Elvis Costello, Ash, the Manics and Skunk Anansie.
Pulp would be best suited to headlining the Other Stage (always the better stage in my opinion!)
We got tickets, after they sold out. We got through to the card details page twice put the information in only for it to crash. Someone else in our group same happened to them but then an email came through at 10:30am confirming tickets.
So lucky.
Will you try in the resale Eamonn? Ive failed getting tickets twice since 2007 but got tickets in the re-sale. So not all hope is lost, if you can bare it.
YAYAYAY! I got tickets to London and Scarborough. What a sleepless night but hopefully worth it. I'm travelling 6000 miles - never saw a show in GB before, let alone all up in Scarborough!
You guys will have to give this Seattleite some pointers on transport to Scarborough. Finsbury Park looks easy enough on the Tube.
I was living in NYC in 2012 but was actually in the hospital when Pulp played Radio City. So this time, nothing is going to stop me.

London's a doddle, of course, but Scarborough's trickier. I don't have any transport tips for Scarborough, but I guess train would be best, probably about 3hrs from London. My main tip is that English summers can be much colder than the summers in Seattle or New York - Scarborough is about 54deg N - so bring suitable clothing. It's not the arctic or anything, only mentioning it as I've had visitors from Michigan in recent years, and they found our summer temperature quite cool.
Probably a good idea to look for accommodation early. I like Scarborough, but it's about a century past its heyday, and a lot of Scarborough is very 'run down', which is a euphemism for rough (I don't know if 'rough' translates to American English?), and some of the accommodation is not of a high standard.
Also a pronunciation tip: it's two syllables, and sounds a bit like 'Scarbruh'.
The Primavera line-up was announced today for Barcelona and Madrid next June. I thought Pulp would be a shoe-in for this, given their and Jarvis' history with it. But it's Blur who headline.

Belated reply... If you want to get from London to Scarborough, you want a train up to York (~2 hours) then one to Scarborough (45 minutes). Lots of options for places to stay, but book well in advance as it gets booked up early in the summer. If you do your research you can probably get a nice independent guest house for less than the big nasty hotels.
You won't be able to get a train back to London after the gig - trains don't run late.

I've booked modest looking Air BnBs for Sheff and Bridlington. Hotel prices are really high, understandable to an extent with inflation but I just couldn't justify/afford it once I'd spent so much on actual gig tickets for Pulp next year.
Thanks Eammon - sounds good. I'm a school teacher here in the US and my school may actually run through July 1 because we went on strike in September. I may miss the London show! Ugh! But Scarborough is looking like I can make it. I still haven't gotten my physical tickets for Scarborough - trying not to get nervous but I live in a high property-crime/ mail-ripoff area. I seriously do not want someone else with these tickets :)
With some astonishment I have just secured 2 tickets for Brid from Twickets. I have had a Twickets alert for a few weeks now for all shows and every time one came through, it said it was already being purchased by someone else, even after a couple of seconds, so I was starting to wonder if bots can harvest Twickets. That and the footie, been a very good evening.

Thanks Eamonn and Sarah. I'd forgotten Eamonn is going to Bridlington too, it'd be nice to see you again. I think we might try to make it a day out and go and see the puffins too while we are there - I've been wanting to do that for a few years now. It's only an hour from my mum's in York. I hadn't realised it was such a big venue, nearly 4,000 according to interwebs, I'd assumed it was tiny. I just took what tickets I could that were indoor, but this actually sounds pretty exciting.

Sorry to put a downer on it but if it's puffins in the wild you're after bird flu has decimated the sea bird colonies in the north, and its raging inland Yorkshire too, lots of sad sights of dead birds about. Most of the tourist stuff will probably still be on hold next spring / summer.
According to this, it's the poor gannets that have been really badly affected there at the moment, we will have to see what the situation is next summer. I adore gannets too, so that is very sad. They seem to have been the most affected all over the country.
Eamonn - are you planning to be in Brid longer than the evening of the gig and overnight? We could meet up for puffin watching or there is a 6 minute train trip to the cliffs where they live.
