Did anyone ever come across the demo version of The Quiet Revolution? There are various 'nearlies' referred to in a number of threads, but I can't find any reported successes or, to cut to the chase, links. Then again, at least I've heard the song via the Flux bootleg... I can't say the same of many those listed above from the WLL sessions. Who has? Have any made it into circulation?
Bumping this because, wow, I was really taken aback when I heard the outro on this one! It sounded like it could've done well in the charts.
I wouldn't say it's anything particularly special besides the rest of the album, but it does sound like it really could've done well had it been 'out there'. "And here comes the rain..."
I think there was some talk that it may have been ditched for Sunrise as it follows a similar gentle-gentle-loud-loud-repeated dynamic.
I'd love to know if Jarvis got as far as a potential tracklisting for his "Quiet Revolution" record idea in '99 before aborting it. Given all the new song titles from around time that Mark's book has revealed, it sounds like semi-acoustic melodic heaven (which would put the Something Changed and A Sunset live in '25 versions in lovely company)...
Cuckoo
Quiet Revolution
My Mistake
Yesterday
Grandfather's Nursery
Forever In My Dreams
Early versions of songs later released on WLL:
Birds In Your Garden
Bob Lind
Wickerman
Sunrise
Weeds
And God knows what from the unheard pile:
Darren
The Last Song In The World
Love Is
M'Lady
St Just
Performance Of A Lifetime
Oh, I forgot to answer the question about the alleged second track from the Last Day Of the Miners Strike sessions. I don't think anything was ever finished - from memory, I think Nick told me that they'd "planned to do 2, but it ended up being 1. In typical style."

And we now know this was a further go at "Emannuel"! Mark has dismissed it, likening it to The Professional which makes me wonder if it also shares similarities with My Sex

I' ve recently updated my numbered song list. Think it still may need some changes, would the brains trust here be able to give it a once-over? Generally ordered by first appearance (session or live) but of course have to shift Grown Ups and Got To Have Love to correct era.
I've always admired the chronological doggedness of your blog!
Looks pretty accurate from a two minute scan. Or as accurate as we can reasonably ascertain.
You did omit the new titles from this session (which hints at The Trees being born earlier - actually, i dont see The Trees in your list at all). https://pulpwiki.net/Pulp/LiveDepotDemos
Is that cos we're not sure if some of these are working titles for other known songs? Also, it looks like you've skipped the numbers 223 and 224?
Not that accurate as you've just spotted three major errors! I am really not sure what to do about all these mystery song titles from the WLL era apart from somehow check with a band member, who knows which ones are just working titles for something else?
Another question I guess is do Proceed To The Route and Locked Down count as "Pulp songs"?

I would say "not yet". Curious as to what songs Pulp demo'd for More, unlikely we'll get detailed recording session info like there exists for other eras. It could be that Locked Down and Proceed were two of the twenty or so Candida mentioned that they tried out for the album.
Probably needs someone to try and collar Mark at a book talk...
