Cheekily they put his name on this week's front cover but apart from the Cool List entry there's nothing else. Godd job they gave away a free CD this week.
I'm having a fit of insomnia this evening, so I finally took a look over the list, and all the follow-up comments posted by NME's readers. Beth Ditto is a friend of a friend, so I'm honoured and a little freaked out to see her on top the list. It's surreal. She is cool though, even if her band is, like, so three years ago.
Anyway, the reason for this post is that I noticed none of the trolls over at NME had anything bad to say about Jarvis. He appears to be the only person in the top 10 anyone agrees with. I guess that means he really is cool? Or not?
There are finally bands that are coming out who you can directly link back to a Pulp influence, such as The Long Blondes, so i think that Jarvis' status as cool will come from things like that. Plus, thinking about it, NME decide for some of these kids what 'cool' is. If they say he's 4th coolest, he's 4th coolest.
I'd like to have seen the audience age demographic at the gigs, could anyone shed some light on the genral age of the audience there?
