Great! The best british album ever, re-released with 8 new tracks.

The package is not a Jewel Case, but a carton sleeve. When ya open it you see Jarvis sitting at the bar with the guy from the A Little Soul single. It folds open with the 2 cd's in the middle, booklet is there. 32 pages with Jarvis talking about the recording process of the beginning of the album and his nervous breakdown. Then he's talking about the new songs in particular. The booklet does contain pictures, but not spectacular new ones. Just the ones in the vein of the others. All lyrics are included and Bar Italia is credited! This site is credited!

The songs are fantastic. I must confess that I haven't heard them a lot now, just once. Cocaine Socialism is nice, but I don't know which one I prefer, not so many differences. The b-sides were and still are great. Tomorrow Never Dies is far more different than Cocaine Socialism is. The new songs are sometimes quite happy sounding, though the lyrics are quite sarcastic. Great lyrics. My Erection is really weird, much weirder than Ladies Man. It's A Dirty World is probably my favourite so far, or Can I Have My Balls Back, Please? I believe Laughing Boy is a bit faster, but I could be my imagination.

Tracklist is nicely chosen, they sound right in this order.

Conclusion: fantastic! Can't wait to get more money and buy the others, this one is great. I've always loved the b-sides and the TIH era best and now we have even got more stuff.

tell me more about his considerations on the new songs. the abandonned ones seem quite poppy to me, does jarvis explain why they were discarded en masse? does he acknowledge the weaker hardcore material? how is the remastering? so many questions...

Mind if I ask how much you paid? I'm looking for a good deal. Looks like I won't get it for much less than $30.

I haven't heard the original album yet, I'm more curious to the 'new' work than to the remastered version of This Is Hardcore. Though I must say that Laughing Boy does sound better than the version I know from Help The Aged single. It sounds a bit fuller, if ya now what I mean.

The exact thing about the site is: "Thanks to Bar Italia: www.pulp.gb.com"

I now will quote Jarvis about the weaker moments of the album, he is not talking about any songs in particular nor is he talking about the second part of the album being bad. He says: "In the end I think the opening lines of "The Fear", [..], best sum up "This Is Hardcore" - "This is the sound of someone losing the plot, making out that they are ok when they're not, you're gonna like it but not a lot." [..] In the end "This Is Hardcore" may be the sound of failure - but it is the most succesful redention of the sound of failure ever put to tape. So there."

Jarvis doesn't really tell why the songs were left off the album, just about Cocaine Socialism, which was left off because Jarvis had confused feelings about the Labour Party and he thought maybe it sounded too much like Common People. He also says about You Are The One, that if more songs like that one made it to the album the gulf between DC and TIH wouldn't be so wide. Allthough I would think he meant Street Operator, which sounds a lot like DC material.

The album cost me 19,99 euros, the other albums had the same price.

Dutch releasedates are always on a Friday, and most of the times it is the Friday before the UK release on Monday.

Brilliant. The site URL gets publicised in an actual, official Pulp record, and I drop the ball by having nothing there. Panic stations.

is there any chance that of one of you who already got the albums would rip a few tracks, say we can dance again , till we foreigners get the cds we ordered (probably in the end of next week, at the earliest), then put it on the yahoo account ! ?

that'd be cool

I think it would be bad form to put some of  the 'new' tracks in the yahoo account - for one thing, whatever about waiting for the cds to come in the post or to go to your nearest HMV, all the tracks will be available to download (for 80p or whatever it costs) from Monday morning, it's not like there's that long to wait!

Also, wasn't it a 'rule of thumb' that stuff that has come out on an official Pulp release shouldn't be ripped and put up there, which I think is a fair call to make.

I easily spent 10 minutes perusing the covers today in the record shop, so bloody tempted to get them, but as I said yesterday, at €25 a pop, and being as skint as I am, I'll stick to ordering through Amazon - an extra few days wait but hey...

Pissed off that they're a fiver cheaper in Holland than in Ireland. I would have got all three today at €20 each, as that's give or take the equivalent to £13.99 (the play.com/amazon prices) isn't it?

Oh, and I reckon JC, in his addled state of mind, has been scanning the Bar Italia lyric pages for info on the background to certain songs, to help him out on his liner-notes!

No, it wouldn't. Don't use my site to request pirate copies of commercially-available material. At worst, you'll get the Yahoo account shut down and I'll receive another thigh-slappingly funny legal threat; at best, you'll put a dent in sales of the first new commercial Pulp release we've had in three years.

Plus, more fucking smileys. For shame, people.

the thing is, i can probably get it another way on monday, i was just asking for one song, you know, to wait till i get my cds, no need to get all angry about it. it's not like one song sent to a few fans who bought their coopies is gonna prevent thousands of people from bying the cds? wrong target here, mister. anyway, sorry for asking...

I'm the one who started this topic, now I'm bothered to register myself.

Well, I'm not gonna upload the tracks, for the reasons given. You're not gonna die for waiting a few days more.

I hope the albums will not be over expensive in the UK or elswhere. I got it from a fairly cheap shop in Holland, which often has very good prices for the newest releases and the will be cheap very soon. For example, Cold Roses from Ryan Adams released in May 2005 will only be 8 euros now, and that 2 cd's.

So go to another site, and ask someone else to e-mail you a copy or something. Cry all you like, I'm not going to allow people to use my site to request pirate copies of commercially-available material. The Yahoo account has already been closed down once, and I've already had one pissy cease-and-desist letter CCd to my hosting provider. Whatever my personal thoughts on filesharing, the site itself has to be kept whiter than white; it's not your name and address that's up there for idiot lawyers to have a go at, so if you guys want to arrange a pirate swap ring, keep it to yourselves.

I was aiming for Sep 1, but there was still too much left broken or wrong; and now I've got lots of other work to get through and so I don't have much time to finish the site. Hopefully it'll all be back up within the next week or two.

I don't *think* there's a mirror up anywhere, but I have all the files at hand here if you need anything specific?

look steve. i get your point, i agree and i said sorry for asking. it wont happen again. just know it wasnt to share to millions of illegal d/lers, that's all... but as ive seen numerous of commercially available songs on the account, so one more, one less, i thought it wuldnt do any harm.

I'm talking about Kroese in Arnhem and Nijmegen, they are part of the Plato franchise I believe so I guess they would have the same price.

Thanks! I don't think we have a Kroese shop here in Eindhoven (or at least I couldn't find one), and Freerecordshop doesn't have them yet.
But apparently, the university has the "Different Class" and "This Is Hardcore" reissues, and I can borrow them...
