Seriously, though, if you find yourself banned, don't immediately set up a new account and spam the board with 200 new posts. Tends to leave a poor impression, that.

I can't do that. Must be a Friendly Neighbourhood Benelovent Dictator thing.
Is there, or will there be if there isn't, a "read new posts" option? On the rare occasions I pop in It's not very user friendly to trawl through old posts in long threads trying to find the new ones.
I'm honestly not sure - I suspect not, I'm afraid, or I'd probably have turned it on straight away, but I'll have a look in the settings and see what I can find.
Hi, I'm new. I'm having trouble uploading an avatar picture that is only 64 KB. I tried last week as well and had the same problem.
Also, maybe I'm misremembering but did I post a thread asking why Pulp weren't getting back together only to have it deleted? Or did I intend to post such a thread. I thought I'd ask so as not to upset you if I posted it again.
Thanks for this forum. Nice to meet some Pulp fans I haven't created (converted to Pulp) on my own.
Hilariously-written forum rules, by the way.

I don't think Steve ever deletes posts, unless he'll be locked up and flogged for hosting them. I can't remember ever a real, serious thread being deleted or edited... but perhaps he's just too quick.
I think it's likely it was an Internet burp... Unless it was wildy offensive or illegal / asking for commericially available tracks, I'd recommend re-posting it.
Edit: Upon reading the above posts, I'm a little scared...
So, apart from raising my blood pressure a little bit, the lunacy of the last few days has seen a phenomenal spike in visitors to the forum - from an average of ticking over at around 200 hits a day, we're suddenly up to well over a thousand. Blimey, says I.
This has financial implications, since anything over 10,000 hits a month costs me a tiny amount of money per hit - the move to the new-style board, after much annoyance at the old one, was (gasp) not free. Brilliantly, the credit card I used to sign up for it expired months ago, and the forum has been accruing charges ever since, without bothering to tell me... which Activeboard/Sparklit were apparently fine about as long as we were under the hits threshold, but this spike in activity has alerted their attention. Anyway, I had a snotty popup message from the provider saying I owed them $30, and a "Community Funding" tip jar has now appeared at the bottom of the page in case anyone for some bizarre reason feels like kicking in a couple of quid. I could have deleted that, but chose not to, just in case anyone DOES want to chip in, but please don't anyone feel obliged or anything.
Something else I found while tinkering around in the admin panel: The forum can now be accessed from http://baritalia.activeboard.com. Which should be a lot easier to remember.
Sadly, there's no option to see new posts, although you should now be able to add the forum as an RSS feed, or share posts on Facebook or whatever.
Does anyone want to be a moderator? E-mail me if you would like this, ahem, very special opportunity.
Also, everyone should now be able to private-message (or "PM", as I believe the young folk say) everyone else - apologies to those who had this inadvertently switched off last time I was faffing around with the settings...

Don't know if you can go back, but you can have activeboard/sparklit forums free if you are prepared to accept an advert at the top. The ads aren't too intrusive and easily ignored. Would save getting the bills.
I don't mind the bills, really, they were about tuppence a day or something and a couple of the features were ones I specifically wanted - I was just a bit surprised that they'd not bothered to tell me I was building up a backlog, and they presumably wouldn't ever have bothered telling me if it wasn't for the Trixy-spike. Don't panic, I'm not about to go bankrupt or anything :)
The pulp.gb.com address only has a holding page on it for now, as the site enters its (sixth? seventh?) straight year of hibernation - I'll add a link to the forum when I next get a chance if it'll make things easier. In the meantime, you can access the forum directly from this URL:
I've just joined and I would like to say a big thank you to Steve! Thanks for running this and for providing a home for the Pulp followers. It's greatly appreciated!
Just that I don't have much hands-on involvement any more - most of the heavy lifting is done by the volunteer moderators, rather than me. I didn't want to take credit for something I haven't really been doing recently!
Has anybody else ever noticed that if you try to access the forum through Orange's 3G network, it says that the site is blocked by Orange Safeguard on account of it containing over-18's material!! Weird. Do any other mobile networks do this?
