Hopefully also some Mark book signing / talks at some of our lovely book shops. Be happy to provide a list... lols. I'm at work and I cant concentrate ... big week this week as we're also seeing Oasis. And I have 2 x Pulp shirts packed to wear for their gigs. Also I love how the poster looks like Netflix. Time for Jarvis to stock up on Cherry Ripes!!!

I will if no closer shows are announced. I've waited fifteen years to see 'em live so a trip to Adelaide sounds like a nice and pleasant way to do it! Somebody in this reddit thread has heard that there's a show happening at the Sydney Opera House forecourt which would be iconic. Imagine the band going all out to Common People with that skyline behind them!

The release of these Australia dates could be quite telling of what is to come.

I say this because Mark revealed the following bits of information at his Manchester 'in conversation'. Do correct me if I misheard but I'm fairly he sure he said...
1. We should probably play Australia / New Zealand this year really
2. It would be also nice to play some countries we have never played in.
3. We probably have to draw everything to a close after that, we're not thinking about another album and can't keep touring the same stuff.
4. If we do, we should probably play a few final, final farewell gigs in the UK in 2026.

He said it as though they were all just him speculating and completely just guesswork.

But with the Australian/ NZ dates coming to fruition so soon after he speculated on them, I wonder if everything in this list is perhaps more certain than he was letting on.

He did also say that there werent any new songs currently being written, and if they were to carry on, then they will have to start writing during the tour. With the gap coming up, its certainly possible for new material to be written. I just cannot see getting signed to Rough Trade would be a one album deal.

I'm very tempted to double dip on the Brisbane and Adelaide shows. I figure this'll be my only chance to see 'em live so might as well do it twice y'know.

Even Candida said she wouldn't be opposed to an EP....let's see! Better to expect the worst and hope for the best.

Meanwhile, Perth want Pulp! They've been left-out and boy are they making their feelings known...

Well, they can't play everywhere, can they? I don't think that the petition is going to make them change their minds 3 months before the tour kicks off.

In terms of future dates for 2026, I think that smaller UK venues would work well, similar to what they did in October 1995. The chances are "More" will be a year old before it starts so without any new material, they are unlikely to sell tickets on the same scale as they did this year and last.

I'd LOVE to see them in a smaller venue, but from what Mark said about Jarvis' attitude to the scale of the shows, and his ominous comments about bringing it to an end, it wouldn't seem likely. The reaction to More, and the shows etc. must have been really gratifying to the band, and it would seem anticlimactic to then go smaller again. With the Australian tour, they've covered most of the world since the start of 2025, only missing Mexico & S. American dates (and Japanese dates were pre-More), so maybe there's not much More to do.

From Jarvis' interview with Zan Rowe, sounds like he wants to carry on with Pulp, but Candida sounds ambivalent, and Mark too. Be nice to hear from Nick. Can't see Jarvis ever stopping either way, and I'd like to have another JARV IS record, and a tour on the scale of those 2021 shows (which I chickened out of due to Covid restrictions).

An absolute dream that they're playing a Brisbane show. We came back from the oasis juggernaught yesterday and I squinted as I looked at the poster and there it was a Brisbane show!! I'll doing all australian shows. Its just absolute magic! But im really hoping Mark gets some book shows in as well. And for friends in New Zealand - I am so excited for you. I know Perth has missed out and yes Perth gets a hard deal all the time. And how about those 2 shows on the Sydney Opera House forecourt. I think these ones will be emotional because the venue - well looking out onto Sydney Harbour and the Opera House is kinda special. Anyone from Bar Italia doing the flight to join us?

Also can I say the tickets except really for Melbourne have been pretty well priced considering inflation and how expensive it is to tour Australia / NZ. And I know I am probably very lucky to be in a position to see them in multiple cities but $160-ish each for Brisbane and Sydney shows. I was looking at my 2011 tickets and they were $86.20. So only double really. Still the peoples band. Still pretty economical for many people and they are doing the freebie in Adelaide.

You know its real when on the train this morning I'm looking in my ticket apps and there they are ... just waiting to be scanned. This thread will probably be me replying to myself. But I feel like its taken over my head. Everything is semi-booked apart from a few flights so I really should just not think about it until next year. I think with Covid and all the things that got cancelled there's still a sense of trepidation ...

Gosh, I'd be tempted to get the stanley knife out and swipe it, if I lived near that.

Never seem to see any billboard posters turning up for sale, maybe an occasional big poster from the tube or something. All those HUGE promo displays for More, some of them were incredible. Some of them must get saved somewhere.

Also going to be making some custom tshirts. Probably just a few. Working on them now. Pulp Come Alive in Australia - something silly like that. They'll be awesome though. thetshirtco.com.au/products/comfort-colours-boxy-tee-crop-custom-printed probably this type because I fit better in a boxy tshirt.

You know what else that has me super worried. Its cyclone season when they are playing Brisbane. It'll be almost to the day when New Order played and it was amazing that gig went ahead because trains were down and many people couldnt make it. I'd be so so so sad if that happened again... bloody tropical weather!!!

Oh and as for Britpop parties - I haven't lived in Sydney for it will be a decade next year. I'd say something might go on - but all those bars and pubs that had Britpop nights in the old days - those buildings have all been torn down or super deluxe expensive apartments because suburbs like Newtown and Redfern are all warehouse conversions and terraces going for multi multi millions of dolalrs - Australia does have a class-war as well - its called Real Estate. But going by oasis recently there were a few things on but that was in Melbourne. I havent seen so many people from those days for years. I reckon Im going to see a few old faces. It'll be weird and fun!!!!!!!!

Oh i think I am making the pivot from shirts to now a patch. My shirts were looking to much what is probably going to be the tour shirt. I know everyone needs to know this. I was like what is an Australian / NZ animal - we dont really share to many similar animals. We often gave them ones and they turned out to be pests in NZ like the humble possum. So I thought well whats something very Aussie and I thought well an Ibis because they are F**king everywhere doing their thing. They are native - not to NZ though but they have them because we gave them to them... It will say Shouting & pointing across New Zealand Australia 2026.

Probably a tiny bit smaller for Pulp. Having said that NC played here in Brisbane 2 nights ago at the showgrounds. That's not a normal venue - more for festivals than individual artist gigs. But Pulp played there in 98 for Livid. Its like multi-purpose. For cows and sheep and for bands.

For Brisbane they are playing the Riverstage which is the usual place for your New Orders, Fontaines DC. But we saw David Byrne like a week ago at the Entertainment Centre - but id say for his screen rig he chose that venue.

Melbourne - well thats where ABBA played in the 70s and Thom York got yelled at.

Sydney - well steps of the Opera House. Cant get more rad than that. Hope the Opera House films it as they have been doing.

And Adelaide. Some type of park on the river which should be nice.

Its so close now. Its crazy. At a cafe last weekend they had a Pulp Brisbane poster and I took it!! Its such a beauty! My partner went back the following week and said all the posters they had up had all been removed so lucky.

And NZ. Well the only arena on the tour. Same place as David Byrne played and I saw some footage from that and it was a big arena and he pretty much packed it.

oh thats kind - but the patches I designed are being made. The bird is an Ibis because they are evvvvverywhere and its kind of quirky like Pulp. I thought long and hard what animal represents the anitpodes and well some of our animals are pests in NZ. The patch design has gone through so many focus groups ie. me. I based them on my favourite Keep Tassie Wild patches. https://www.keeptassiewild.com/collections/patches

Brisbane next... f**k they're probably flying in tomorrow. I'm really nervous and excited.

Also saw the worlds biggest Pulp poster when we were out today.

It is attached.

Not last year?

Looks like they're sticking to the bumper two-sets with a break for ageing bladders like the UK arena tour last summer. Only the best for the antipodeans.

I know its probably not a thing for you all because they are your fellow country folk but they are here in Brisbane - where i live. Its very special - this is a dream that is coming true. Even though I did see them in 2011 a few times I didnt think this would happen again. I cant articulate it properly - apart from feeling like I'm on a swing or rollercoaster and you know how you have to take that big intake of air and your stomach has to catch up! Thats how I kinda feel. Its magic and its bonkers and surreal. I said to my better half just get Brisbane out of the way and then maybe I can relax a little. Just enjoy it.

Also I put the hard yards in this morning. Been into the city - looking looking. Then I head back over the bridge and near State Library who do I find... Yes Jarvis. Just wandering around the cultural precinct. Had a small chat about stuff re: Adelaide, the water dragons, meeting him many years ago at the Leonard Cohen thing at the Opera House - he said that he had his son with him and he wasnt walking yet and classic me - I told him how the venue they're playing tomorrow kind of smells because its near the mangroves....Then I said look I do have some things in my bag because I'm a big fan and he signed my TIH CD booklet, Spike Island 7" and Help The Aged 7". Not sure why those things - I had some other stuff. I suppose it was what I could fit in my fjallraven bag. It was a magic moment. I saw him a bit after while i was eating my apple and people are just wandering past him. I'm thinking you're walking past an icon!!! He said they had played in NZ and I said yes the vibe on the internet is good re: NZ gig. He laughed at that. I also got a photo. Both with our hats on. I did also say I had Mark's book in my bag and he said he is around but didn't see him.

I had to sit down and I started giggling like a mad lady to myself. I had been so nervous and twitchy - and this has happened and I feel like its all gone. He made someone super happy today.

yes Weener see you in Sydney. Also I have some bad news about the patches. So on Thursday last week I emailed them and I said I put in this order and I was wondering if you could tell me when I should expect them. They get back to me and say first or second week of March. I said thats to later - I placed an order with you because you said 14 days turn around. I told them if they hadnt started production I wanted a refund. They hadnt started production so I am getting refund. I was so upset. I had a **** day at work and then that. I am going to try and get the design made into stickers - so i can at least have them from Sydney.

It really annoyed me because they made out they manufactured locally so I was like - great - but looks like they get it done overseas and then ship to Australia.

yes see you in Sydney. Its going to warm. And the stage at the forecourt is not under any shade so bring sunscreen and a hat. Seriously - it blinds you down there the light because it bounces off the concrete!

i know !!! but Brisbane is not that big. People visiting generally do the same stuff. Look at the river, visit the gallery and I see some of the band-gang like Emma and Adam went to Lone Pine which is a koala sanctuary. I just had to think like a tourist...

Listening to their soundcheck and they were playing most of the set including Seconds, The Fear, Begging for Change with multiple run through. And then they played the ABBA cover from a few weeks back. I was in the loo listening to a crystal clear soundcheck. Astonishing.

Folks it started raining during Common People. Felt just like it was straight out of a movie. I think Ol' Jarv is right, this is a night I will remember for the rest of my life.

Not sure why the images are coming in upside down. Something something down under I guess

It's great to see that "The Fear" is still featuring and nice to have "Underwear" back. It's just a shame that there isn't a bit more variation in the setlist. Suede played 70 different songs in less than a month this year and I'd say that Pulp's back catalogue is similarly sized so they could do the same. Songs like "Party Hard", "Have You Seen Her Lately?" and "Live Bed Show" would be amazing.

Suede are a tight 5-piece band, they all know the songs backwards, three of them having been in the band for 35 years, the other two for approx 30. They tour a lot more than Pulp and are probably more open to setlist changes to keep things fresh for themselves as much as anything.

Pulp is a more selective thing and a much larger collective, over half of whom have only come onboard since 2023. Also, as impressive as Swayed are, even now (saw them in Brighton at the weekend and the energy from Anderson in particular was incredibly impressive), Jarvis likes his between song-chat which eats into more time than the average act. And sub-3.5 min songs are a minority in their catalogue. A Pulp concert is more of a performance than a rock gig.

That said, Pulp did try out a heap of songs in rehearsals last year and The Day Before You Came & Seconds were sound-checked, in Brisbane apparently.

I keep checking back for cutcopy's review! I hope you had an incredible time. Even the soundcheck sounded magical.

Apparently so. They also apparently gave the entire discography a run through prior to the 2011 reunion. Not sure what they have been rehearsing this time though.
