Glasgow was great - on barrier and got the crazy shock of the new setlist. Heather really wanted Help the Aged and she basically died when the lyric from it popped up on screen. And I was 'zapped' on the finger by Jarvis!
London 1 I didn't quite get barrier, and I did for London 2, but London 1 probably edged it for me - the thrill of the charts announcement, getting Party Hard, Jarvis pointing at me during Acrylic Afternoons (it's bloody Acrylic Afternoons!). But all three gigs I went to were just astonishing. What incredible memories.
BEYOND excited for Sheffield Tramlines, that'll be like a Pulp festival. (Although I still need to find somewhere to stay for the night before...)
Sounds like another great night was had. How many songs have they got in reserve to put in these vote offs? I'm really impressed. I know Candida's interview refers to that. I'd have gone for Like A Friend in the Birmingham one (I'll never get enough of the guitar riff in the outro) and We Are the Boyz in this one. You know what I'd love to hear - Ansaphone! I could be here all day listing what I'd love to hear. I'm here listening to HOTN right now. That is so special that one. They're surely going to play it sometime soon or are they

So I take it this gig sold-out or pretty close to. The Manchester Evening News reports a crowd of 23,000 - this place is bigger than the 02. Three times more than the Castlefield Bowl gig near Manchester they did two years ago. Even when Pulp were at their peak commercially, the arena tour in Feb '96 didn't have venues as big as these. Astonishing in a way.

Certainly felt sold out - when I looked around just before the show started I only saw a handful of empty seats and they could have been at the bar/toilets. Bloody warm too.
I didn't get a tea bag from Jarvis during Acrylic Afternoons this time, but I did manage to catch the brown paper bag in which he carried the tea - totally worthless but naturally will now be kept for its sentimental value. Good to know my reflexes are still sharp when I need them to be :)
This was quite a good show :) Pip, I saw your face and hat projected onto the big screen by Jarvis during, I think, Common People. Were you aware of that? I'm sure there'll be video somewhere!
