I have just had a thought. It is well documented that "Maureen" was considered as a single in 1985 and a video was made that still unfortunately hasn't surfaced. The song was recorded three times:

  • Bad Maureen demo, January 1984
  • Sudan Gerri demo, May 1984
  • Ping Pong Jerry demo, November 1984

If it was going to be a single, then is there a 4th and final recording that we don't know about that was used for the video?

I don't believe so. The Ping Pong Jerry recording was the one they wanted to release (unbelievably).

I have always thought that the "Ping Pong Jerry" version lost a lot of the energy that was captured in the "Sudan Gerri" version and live performances.
