What Do You Say? Live in 1982. Interesting one. It's a shame that they don't dig a bit deeper into the early 80s vaults because demos of "Barefoot in the Park", "Teen Angst", "Why Live?", "How Could You?" and "Heat of the Day" were recorded.
Interesting that there are no unreleased demos from 1999-2001 as these are obviously the most valuable. It's possible that "Emmanuel" had something about it if they attempted it for "Hits" and surely there is at least one other great song from this period (Mark spoke very highly of "Last Song in the World").
I have never really been a fan of "The Trees" live. It's a nice song but nothing more. Give me "I Love Life" any day which really takes on a life of its own on stage.
According to Pulpwiki, Candida didn't appear on "Sliding Thru Life On Charm". The lyrics of the final version are clearly written with Marianne Faithful in mind so I imagine the ones from this original version are quite different. It's a good song and a nice inclusion.
Thinking of Mark's book and him talking about this period, I wonder did they consider including something from the "Wild Side" soundtrack that he, Steve and Jarvis worked on as that's unlikely to find a logical home in future reissue projects.
I used to know these things, but don't anymore. How many of those "It is believed this gig was recorded and tapes survive but do not circulate" gigs had What Do You Say? on the setlist? I'm wondering it what's on the Mojo disc is one that is already known of, or whether its a new thing. Marple?
I wonder if the alternative version of "FEELINGCALLEDLOVE" was recorded in 1996 for a potential single release. They did consider this song as the final single from "Different Class".
What are the details of how thr band have the Marples gig? Can't remember the guys name who was selling it, but I do know he 'wanted' to play it to Jarvis.
I would also assume that any early 80s stuff that Russell had - like the Bath gig - would have been copied for Mark W at some point, so the band would probably have access to that.
Scott Mills on Radio 2 played Spike Island this morning and mentioned that Jarvis will be on his show on Tuesday with even more BIG news...
Just copying this across from the Lauren Laverne thread... even more news beyond a new single, album, and tour?! The only thing I can think of is a big reissue collection... which makes me wonder, could the Mojo CD actually be highlights from an anthology we dont know about yet?
Pets and Sting in Preston. It would be amazing to go back to Preston the Radio 2 thing, sadly it aint gonna happen. Stanley Park Blackpool would be my next bet if need be lol.
I was really surprised Tramlines didn't run with the 'UK festival exclusive' advertising when they announced Pulp, and I reckon this could be why. Pulp at Radio 2 in the Park!
I'm still hoping for a secret Glastonbury set, as I'm going this year! I still have faith in that though. Stranger things have happened.
I would say that it is against the rules. However, as most people don't have CD players/drives nowadays, I think that one person ripping it and sharing with others who have bought the CD is justified. It would probably be more appropriate to share the link with people privately.
