Yeah, baby.

Anyone recognise the synth track on his Insta post? Sounds like a studio version of Spike Island !

Yeah, that actually sounds more plausible.

Will the new tour mean similar lighting and stage design to the Encore 23/24 tour? Or will they tone that down and mix up the set (half a dozen new ones pls)?

I'm sure we'll have album & single announcement before mid-april. Or i don't know what the band means for "little more time")

Yeah, I guess the next announcement might be an album with Spike Island as the lead single and available to stream with a video hopefully.

And then different album bundle choices, hopefully one with an extra CD of demos (the Manics do this with every new album - their latest out today) - it will save them doing a deluxe edition in 20 years!

I think Spike is probably the catchiest of the new stuff so I'd be happy with that. Might actually get airplay on stations other than 6Music.

Something in the air. Was on a mad Pulp listening binge over the last week. Perfect day. Mark Webber's book in the post and then this! Cannot wait. Yeah, I'm wondering does this mean an album very soon!

Also if the album title is More it serves as a nice bookend to their early albums, starting with one-word titles and ending with a one-word title (that is if it is the end).

Manchester and Birmingham both 100% for me, but can't really be arsed with London (I'm with Alan Partridge on that one). Considering Glasgow & Dublin...

Be there 2 o clock. Probably a bit early that

I'll definitely be there! Mad to think of them finishing up at the Ambassador and here we are in 2025 and they're back to 1996 concert size!

What a way to start 2025.

So this tour will be to "keep the interest" and in the lead up to it......album announcement.

In fact, Jarvis has already told us.

Fingers crossed for Manchester. Its a Saturday too which means a day sesh.

I can't imagine anything better than a day out with a few drinks and some food with my best mate, followed by a Pulp gig.

My Dad being an absolute legend kindly offered to buy me a ticket too which is wild, so hoping to get one sorted this week.

I think given that they're doing "the sheds", they'll keep the bulk of the festivals/hits set in place with maybe five or six new songs.

But the chance of hearing any "legacy" songs that haven't been aired in this era or even ones they've only played a handful of times since 2023 (Lipgloss, Joyriders, Dishes, Bad Cover Version) are fairly slim, I'd imagine. Weeds, FEELING, I Spy and Pink Glove might even need to bog-off to make room for the newbies.

Jarvis is a crowd-pleaser and the majority of people will know half a dozen songs and none of the new ones. So I can't see him rifling through any deep album cuts or singles that didn't fare well (Party Hard, Trees). Help The Aged just looks like it's never gonna happen again...

What I hope they do on the week the new album comes out is some fan-club equivalent gig in a tiny venue (i.e a dimly-lit room crammed with loathing and hate) playing the whole record in full and then some more obscure songs.

Hmm. Looking at the recent tour, Hogmanay was probably the most populistic/mass-appeal gig that they did. And they gave us Lipgloss and Monday Morning then. In fact, that felt like it was partly an effort to make the setlist more crowd-pleasing by including them in lieu of Weeds/Weeds II.

I'm cautiously optimistic. I think the core of the set is set in stone - I Spy, Disco 2000, Something Changed, FEELING, Sorted, Hardcore, First Time, Babies, Sunrise, Like a Friend, Underwear, Common People - and that there'll be some variation. They probably won't play all the new songs from show to show.

Pink Glove I hope remains: after all, it's good for crowd interaction. Weeds' days might well be numbered though. I'm crossing everything for Lipgloss again. I think Lipgloss, Joyriders, O.U., Mis-Shapes and Monday Morning will all still make sporadic appearances. Who knows, hopefully Mark's lobbying for Help the Aged will finally have paid off...

"2. Ticket resale is permitted at no more than the price you paid (face value + booking fees). Please only use the official resale partner www.twickets.live. Selling tickets through unauthorised resale platforms will breach these T&Cs and those tickets may be cancelled."

Does this work? Let's hope so.

It doesn't like multiple browser pages being open, so you have to queue and buy for one show at a time, which is irritating.

Well that was quite heart in mouth! It told me twice that unusual activity was detected on my IP. Luckily, I refreshed and it carried on. Then I thought it was trying to force me to buy insurance, didn't seem to want to activate the Buy button with a big red box suggesting I might have forgotten. But it all worked in the end, no Taylor Swift style experiences - I only know about that from the media, I've never tried to buy a Taylor Swift ticket.

- Queuing in random order

- Only Twickets resale at face value

- Not crashing out when you try to pay

Buying gig tickets may be redeemable if this all works.

Just Dublin for now, been out of work lately and only back in. I imagine Twickets will have resales nearer the time (especially for the two London dates).

Prices seem a little higher than expected too. Well Dublin especially. St Anne's Park two years ago was about 55 from memory, this was close to 90.

Similarly, their Birmingham city centre hotels are all around £30 at present (Central is closest to the arena).

59.90 for gold circle tickets in Dublin last time. I remember dublin being cheaper than everywhere else on that tour. The standing ones there now were almost nearly 90 euro each. Anecdotally I met so many people afterwards that went on a whim and were blown away. Plus there was lots of people travelled there I presumed because the other dates sold out so quickly. Demand maybe higher this time plus it being the 3 Arena snd indoors, would that make it more expensive? I remember clear as day itwas 20 pounds in 1996 for that venue. Relieved to have got tickets now. There's no one else I'd pay it for.

Yeah, I guess it means more fancy stage production. Maybe they'll incorporate it into the new material while also retaining some of the lighting/background footage from the recent tour.

I see Pet Shop Boys have also announced more Dreamworld dates - they have been doing this greatest hits tour since 2022 but it was announced pre-Pandemic.

It's interesting from a marketing point of view that both artists aren't using their recent or upcoming albums to sell a tour (Pulp's is a tease at most). Can only surmise that when it comes to legacy acts, the brand name becomes diluted by a new record attached to it.

To make it worthwhile financially, the artist is marketed with emphasis on their imperial era as much as possible as this is what gets volume via the floating punter.

Those of us who want our faves to keep writing and recording are the minority.

A tad depressing but I guess that's just the way it is.

It is interesting alright from a marketing viewpoint. I wonder when the album will actually come out. Will there be another tour when the album comes out. Part of me would love a smaller venue after the album comes out where they just play the new album right the way through but financially is that profitable. This arena tour must be focused on hits.

And it's true re what gets the floating fan. To look at the positives I'm just glad it's not a festival and that stage production is brilliant. I love the drama and spectacle of it. I really loved the graphics, everything about it.

The standout of the 'new' songs for me would be Hymn of the North and in second place I'd pick Got to Have Love. I would absolutely love to hear Cuckoo and Grandfather's Nursery too. Brand new ones too and some random oldies like Countdown. I'm so tired now. Couldn't sleep! Thanks again, Arrgee.

Dates were wrong way around for me as I am due in Dublin on 13 June, but will go following morning. My wife understands.  I think.

Feeling a bit priced-out this time, sadly. Saw them twice at the beginning of the last reunion, thrice I think for the original reunion, twice before the split. Jarvis more times than I can count. Bah. I will probably fold and buy some for the O2, though its not in my best interest financially Hopefully theyll play some new songs and some very old ones - itd be a pity if the set list is too close to last time!

Makes me feel like a downer but I am very excited theyre still going!

I did not bite initially for Finsbury Park nor Hammersmith Odeon in 2023, but did fold when a friend asked about going to both. Didn't even see him at Finsbury Park.

Hard to justify paying nearly £100 for a gig when I pay far less for most of the gigs, shows and sports I attend.  I have still yet to go over £100, but £87 is about my limit.  Only ever spent more than that just the once to see The Who (£90) and only because I got a good seat in front block of O2 and thought they were unlikely to play again.  Of course, I have seen them at least twice since then ( but paid less).

Luckily, I can afford it.  A big bag of redundancy cash helps.

Sure, I will be buying at Sheehan's just off Grafton Street next week.  Just look for a few auld fellas and a beautiful woman, that'll be us.  It's not my birthday. Should be there Wednesday (and probably Thursday).

Well that pre-sale sucked.

Got on the Co-Op app at 9:30 on the dot and it took me through to ticketmaster which was showing a near empty venue map for any tickets apart from VIP, then when it did work properly there were nothing but seated available.

Guess I'll try again Friday.

They've played several gigs in Europe haven't they? Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland (and the Irish Republic)

Although Germany and especially France (!) are striking absences from that list...

Did they ? Got kinda lost in all those dates, but everytime i looked it was a festival. So no thanx. Still hoping for a reasonable sized indoor venue. With no other name on the bill.  I'm willing to travel for a Pulp gig though. But one that's only Pulp.

They'd like to do France but it seems to be too expensive according to that interview with Mark and Giles Acrylic.

Hopefully there'll be a separate tour for the album at smaller venues and some European cities. Australia also crying out for a visit.

I was almost gonna go to the O2, but then i remembered it was a big, big venue. Cant be bothered to watch dots from afar anymore, even for Pulp.

Oh well, i'll wait for another cool, smaller date, anywhere in Europe really.

I thought Hammersmith Odeon would be smaller, but ended up further away than I did at Finsbury Park.   Last time I saw Pulp at a small venue was The Garage in 1993, though I did have a good seat at Theatre Royal the following year and have been front and centre at Kentish Town and Brixton.  I was at O2 to see James last year and got a pretty good spot on the right hand side of the stage about 20 deep.   However, I wouldnt bother with seats on the sides at O2.  I did for Roxy Music, but they were too far away and my block was one of the closest to the stage.

I'm doing Birmingham, closest they will ever play to my hometown, even if I'm not living nearby any more. Anyone else going?

I got a couple O2 tickets. Would have preferred something more intimate but hard to argue skipping a show I can just about see from my window. My teenage self would be appalled.

Mostly regretting my Tramlines ticket now. Would have much rather spent that money jetting off to Dublin or Glasgow.

Does anyone else think Pulp are being a bit optimistic with 2 nights at O2 - thats what 50,000 tickets? Two years ago definitely, but they've been touring a while now and some of the excitement is wearing off. I suppose if it is preceeded by a barnstormer single or album? I guess we will know soon enough!

40,000 - capacity of O2 is 20k. Finsbury sold forty thou and there'll be some people going both nights to the O2. They can always keep some of the back rows off sale.

I agree though that it is ambitious. They've been tentative about announcing low numbers of dates since the reunion as they were unsure of demand. I think you're right - Spike Island or whatever the comeback single is, getting some decent airplay (not just on 6Music) in advance, will definitely help.

No.  Finsbury Park sold out almost immediately and that holds 45,000.  Ditto Hyde park in 2011.  pulp are too big for the likes of Brixton Academy or Hammersmith Odeon though fortunately probably not quite big enough to play football stadiums.   I confess that had  played Wembley Arena rather than O2, I wouldnt go as its a bit of a trek across town, whereas The O2 would be walkable but for the Thames getting in the way smile

Bought Manchester, considered Birmingham - however with Tramlines too, just thought to stick with the two.

Co-Op Live is a great venue, despite the farce surrounding its opening. £17 for a double pint of lager, mind.

£17!  I have stopped drinking at gigs, too expensive. Don't drink much at pubs either at £7/pint since our local was refurbished. It's a pretty bad state of affairs when it is cheaper to drink at a football match than at the local pub. £4.40/pint at Wrexham the other night and about £4/pint at Arsenal.  Even restaurants are cheaper.  I will go to the huge Wetherspoons at O2 pre-gig, £3.50/pint.

Hey hey. Silvertown Tunnel opens in April and there will be free-to-use pedestrian/cyclist shuttle, so hypothetically you could walk it!

I will be.

My thought was that the novelty has worn off since Finsbury Park. There was definitely some FOMO around that possibly being a lot of folks first and/or last chance to see Pulp after a decade hiatus. And Finsbury felt more like a festival: even if the band wasn't really your cuppa, you were spending a lovely summer day out in the park.

I am really  just wondering aloud about whether the enthusiasm is still there. I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if O2 sells out this weekend but I will know soon!  I consider myself a pretty big fan (weirdo-tier!) and am thankfully not hard up for money, but at 80£ per ticket I will only be seeing one show. At £50-60 I would probably double-down.

The prices are restrictive. Nick, Jarvis and Mark have all made a thing of mentioning non-dynamic pricing. In all fairness lads, I'm not sure Pulp are popular enough to even have the cheek to try such skullduggery!

It also said you could only resell through Twickets at face value - do these big shows always say that or are they actually trying to crack down on the secondary market? I don't really go to big venues other than for Pulp, so don't really know what's normal for these things.

It's also dawned on me that I just drank at gigs out of habit, but I don't enjoy trying to hang onto a plastic glass in a crowd and not squeeze it so all the drink overflows. There's no enjoyment in the drink like that.

Yep, Twickets has become the chief trusted secondary-market for ticket resales over the last few years, many (most?) artists advise folk to use it.

I have dutifully downloaded my Co-op app as instructed and no sign of any tickets. It did say they wouldn't appear until shortly before the gig, but it isn't filling me with confidence. Is this normal? I suppose it's no different in principle from waiting for tickets to be posted, but you feel like when it's all electronic, it should be available straight away.

Same. I did see Madonna last year though (which was brilliant) and that was a re-sold ticket.

If Pulp announced they'd play 2 completely different setlists then I would be all over it - I would pay double the ask. But we know they are going to play the hits with 2-3 songs switched out and maybe 1 surprise song in the encore.  They have form. (I love being wrong, btw- surprise me!)

The new teaser posted by Jarvis on his Facebook page is rather poignant - seeing the cardboard cut outs of Jarvis Nick Candida and Mark on top of the hill in bright blue sky. Very touching. Can't help but think there is a message by of way of tribute to Steve there.

Ah, I might do that I recently walked from Cutty Sark to Island Gardens as I hadn't done it for a while since DLR was extended.

Agree with that.  Also once I get a decent place, I do not want to leave it.  At Finsbury Park, I was deep in the front section, received a call from a friend offering to buy beers.  Never saw him as he couldnt get anywhere near me and I didnt fancy trying to get out.  And he queued for ages.  So all in all, just not worth the bother unless I have a seat or the gig isnt partic crowded as was the case when I went to 229 recently.
