I saw those comments about "Jarvis lost the crowd early on" is bollocks from where I was near the front. I was surrounded by teenagers going mental which put a massive smile on my face.
I love Spititualized but, Shine A Light excepted, that was not a set for a casual festival audience.
Spiritualized gave me a headache. It was just loud without enough shape to it, and it all blended together. Impressive I suppose.
I thought Spiritualized were really boring. Wish I'd gone to Hot Chip and Fat White Family instead.
Don't suppose you "captured it"? IPlayer only has one day of regional news available before it's discarded for some reason.
I would second the request for the Look North coverage, if anyone has it. I've got the iPlayer ripper software, but it doesn't work after things have been taken down.

It was a real shame about Spiritualized really. Maybe they would have been better in the tent cos getting an atmosphere going for them on the big stage was difficult. I know they're better than that. I would have loved to have seen Fat White Family but I didn't want to leave the front of the main stage.
When I saw Spiritualized's staging I thought the omens were bad. An inward-facing crescent without anyone really playing into the audience. Closed-off body language. It didn't exactly feel appropriate for a festival. At least have your singer facing the crowd!
Ban this sick stunt! (The story is actually Jarvis talking about the Leadmill's closure and the crowd's reaction):
Or could equally have been 'Nick he's from Rotherham', or 'Mark he's from Chesterfield'
Nick was soundly jeered but Mark was cheered, which he seemed to enjoy. A few of us down front joined in for the latter - he's taken enough stick! And he seemed fairly cheesed about it. Nick revels in this stuff though.
During Mark's wandering during Babies I jokily pretended I didn't know the lyrics, drawing a smile from Chesterfield's Finest. Other highlights include McKinney properly locking in during Sex City, complete with shoulder movement and everything. They are clearly having a whale of a time out there.
It's a pity that Candy has no interest in writing a memoir. In the recent 6 Music interview with RadMac, she said she spent some time growing-up in Surrey before moving to Sheff. So it seems her parents were quite nomadic. Can't remember if she's ever spoke about how Belfast fits in.

That would be a must read. Shame she isn't interested in writing one.
Agreed. Would love to read her book. I've actually written a book and, bizarrely, it continues to sell. I've been out of the game a while though. I'd love a project like this. Having said that, I think it's best when these books are written by the person. In all of the Pulp memoirs, I can hear each personality so well in their stories. Just think of how all of the 4 books have differed so much. I'd love to hear hers in her voice. Loved hearing that interview with her.
