Has anyone read the new book about Brummie perennial wannabe-popstar, Lawrence (of Felt, Denim and latterly Go-Kart Mozart and currently Mozart Estate fame)?
It's got rave reviews...a tad OTT in my opinion, but it's an interesting read about perseverance, denial (!), the effects, not so much of fame but of trying to be famous.
There are some new Jarvis quotes in it about meeting Lawrence and a bit about when Denim supported Pulp on their arena tour in 1996.
There's an in-conversation event in Foyles bookshop in London next month with Lawrence, Will Hodgkinson (music journalist who wrote the book) and Jarvis too. I can see how it must have resonated with Jarv - Lawrence's life and how it's gone could easily have happened to him (which sounds patronising, Lawrence has had highs such as his profile from this book but there have been some terrible lows and quite a lot of just coasting and dreaming).
