I was just about to post the same thing. I'm thinking: if this is what the later demo sounded like, then Pulp could have stormed the charts in 2001 with singles like this and "After You". A very welcome resurrection and it fits well alongside the other new material. So now we've got [over] half an album's worth of new songs...

Got To Have Love doesn't really do much for me but it'd be exciting if they started mining the WWL demos for something new. Would it be too much to start to wonder if Pulp's final release could potentially be a double album?

Fuck my old boots...did not expect this as the next curveball!

Interesting that it retains the chorus of the instrumental demo we've known for years with no other embellishment. But that seems to be a strong enough hook to carry the song.

Agreed on the point that there's commercial potential in this, makes you wonder why Island's A&R men weren't pleading with Pulp to record this and After You with Scott Walker if they were worried about the lack of hits.

The verse lyrics feel new to me as if they've been shoehorned to fit the existing chorus. Not saying they're bad or 'owt. There was another demo version with lyrics from 2000, wasn't there?

Lots of bands now issue multiple editions of their new album with expensive options so there are large margins to be made beyond the £12 for a one-CD edition.

Including a CD of original demos would help pad-out a deluxe edition.

I can't see why the WLL demos won't get released at some point, every artist empties their archives these days. This might be the easiest way of doing it (although I'd obvs prefer a proper WLL superdeluxe with the live show from Venice in 1999 etc.).

And that makes six. The manila folder marked 'Album Evidence' is nearly bursting at the seams.

Cool song! The WLL demos is an area of Pulp history that I've not educated myself on beyond After You. I'm liking the variety of genres and sounds we're getting too. Cooking up something real nice.

Road-testing new songs could just be part of the fun, the spontaneity of touring, creativity without strings attached. But revisiting old material, to polish it: that's different. THAT suggests they're purposefully revisiting old material in order to do something with it. There will be a new Pulp album.

wow, crazy !!! looks like i was wrong in the other thread and gladly so....

This one, Cuckoo, The Quiet Revolution... They need a proper release dont they ? I wouldnt mind a new recording and demos being released too.

And a new version of After Your, since the 2013 one is really... not that good.

Bands and musicians often go back to older material to put on new albums. Its more than ok if it fits.

Exciting time.

 

I enjoy WLL for what it is, but it could have been a really huge album.

 Usually when the contract is about to end and there's a best of after that, record labels dont push so hard and dont care. So "last" albums are usually rushed, wild or completely out there. 

 

That's probably what happened with WLL.

Aw, wow, I feel like I'm dreaming! Got To Have Love is amazing. Real earworm that one. I just love My Mistake, Grandfather's Nursery and Cuckoo too. Those songs are more than worthy of being on any new release. I'd love to have them on an official release. Loving the new tunes too.
2025, 30 years since those dizzy heights! Feels like it's going to be a special year. Ah, Pulp, you're fcukin amazing :) love you!

Nice to have a couple of old songs that didn't previously make it return for a new album. But really I'm mostly interested where Pulp are at today and what Jarvis has to say for himself in the present. Hope they don't raid the WLL cupboard too much.

A new album and at some point a WLL deluxe would be best case scenario.

I think this is my favourite of the new additions so far. The band seem to be really cooking on it. Lyrics maybe still need to settle in a bit, but I just really like the vibe of it.

So now anything is possible really.

Got To Have Love, Cuckoo, The Quiet Revolution, After You. Maybe they plan new recordings, or releasing the old versions. Both ? I want both;

What are the chances we get the new album in the fall ? Oasis returning next year could overshadow the album, they need to move fast (Its gonna be hard biggrin  pulp being pulp )

Supergrass about to announce their return too (I know they've played live since the pandemic so hopefully it's a new album).

 

Edit - they've just announced that it's just them touring their debut album in full, live. Pretty disappointing as they play more than half those songs anyway at every gig. Similar with Pulp and Different Class. A 30th anniversary tour of that would be so reductive. So glad it'll be a new album instead (fingers crossed).
