I guess they tested enough songs for now, in 2 days it's their last US gig and after that they go back in studios (maybe) until next year and the Japan gigs where they can deliver us some new songs or the 7 we already know but reworked and between that maybe a Christmas present...
I'm fascinated that Background Noise hasn't been played this year - it's really catchy! Are they bored of it already? Or is it just banked and not considered necessary to road-test further...

It's been setlisted a few times, in Europe, but not played.
I mean, if they debuted that many songs, it means its more or less recorded.
No recording has been done. Jarvis prefers to road-test material first in front of audiences. We just have to cross our fingers that they don't faff around in the studio for two years like with WLL and Hardcore...
Was thinking about that. What if they... changed ? Its really weird to "test" so many songs. 3, 4 maybe... but so far we got what, almost an album worth of testing. Its kinda weird. And 9 out of 10 sound pretty finished to me.
And surely they wouldn't say the album is recorded if it was.
Just hoping here. Or dreaming.
They tested out 9 new songs in a similar timeframe in 1999-2000 but only 5 of these made the final album. In 2001, I think I had heard at least 7 of the 11 songs on "We Love Life" before it was released.

Really ? I dont remember that time and back then it was harder to find those live recordings, though i do remember hearing the demos sometimes in the mid 00s.
Anyway, i have hopes, it would be a good time in the late fall because next year, Oasis is gonna come back and there wont be much space
There were 3 concerts in 1999 (June, August and September) and they performed these songs at each of them: Roald Dahl Birds in Your Garden Duck Diving The Quiet Revolution Cuckoo Song Sunrise
There were 4 concerts in August 2000 and they performed these songs at each of them: Weeds Minnie I Love Life
So that's 9 songs in 14 months.
By the end of May 2001, they had also performed "The Trees", "Wickerman" and "Bad Cover Version".

Yes, it's not great quality but certainly listenable. There are bootlegs of a couple of the 2000 shows on my website. "I Love Life" in particular is different from final version and "Weeds" has different lyrics for the chorus.
Even the 7 songs are just the beginning, but, we finally have something! They had many great songs unreleased in the past, like cuckoo song. At least, Jarvis said they were back to the studio. After 23 years since WWL was released, it was a great news to me. :)
