Be Pulp in 1992....... buy a car... dye your eyebrows... learn to astrally project... put up some shelves... get up earlier in the morning... go to bed later at night... talk to people at bus stops... take up conjuring... swim naked in the sea during a thunderstorm... kiss as many people as poss.... wear tighter clothes... whistle while you work... knit someone a tank-top... give away your most prized possession to someone you've never met before... do not drive or operate machinery whilst taking medication... wallpaper your bedroom... swim with the sharks & the dolphins... lighten up... only tell someone you love them if you really, really mean it... try not to break anyone's heart... go camping in Scotland... try not to become bitter & twisted... be as sexy as you can as often as you can... be aware of family planning... change your underwear regularly... smile... love thy neighbour - regularly... give dinner parties for your friends... apply to be a contestant on a T.V. game show... wear lots of brown... get some exercise... learn a foreign language... do unto others as you would have them do unto you... shop around... mind the roads... but most of all, be yourself - 'cos don't you know we love you just the way you are?... it's true................

....and make a music video for the Pet Shop Boys ?

I listened to this podcast from a few years ago today, and in it Neil says he felt slightly threatened by Pulp at the time and describes Common People as a bit of a Pet Shop Boys song...

Quite funny because there's that ancient 1986 or so interview where Jarvis mentions that PSB have just had a big hit with Suburbia and they have a newie called Nights Of Suburbia, although he is positive about PSB.

It was Disco 2000 he was jealous of, wasn't it? Anyway, he loved Hardcore so respect.

He mentions Disco 2000 as well.  I'm guessing he's said so elsewhere then.  Would be great if he (or they) were to do something with Jarv.  Perhaps a Suburbia / Nites Of Suburbia mash-up.

Ok, that will not happen.

Nice one.

Minor criticism- I never saw Sheffield in the 90s so I could be mistaken, but am I wrong for thinking there's not enough smoking and too much working out in this video to make it look authentic? Everyone is way too fit for '92.

PSBs were my biggest musical love until Pulp came along! Still listen to them today. smile
