The standard setlist was played. Sadly, After You was not on the written setlist and appears to have been dropped from the encore - they played Razzmatazz and Glory Days. Hopefully the band sees fit to play some of the other songs they've rehearsed while they're in Latin America.
Mark Webber had to miss out - Tom Wright stepped in and played all the parts after learning them in a single day!
The eagle-eyed may also notice that Candida is using a different Farfisa organ for some of these shows (and so far, all the ones in South America) youd have to be an uber-geek to spot it though!
The rumour that I've just seen on this thread is that Jarvis was unimpressed by his depiction in the first draft of Mark's book and that's why he wasnt allowed at the show.

Yes this is the rumour. Many people are indeed saying this.
Although my own theory is that Jarvis banned Mark because he wouldn't stop asking them to play My Legendary Girlfriend.

Joking aside, if Jarvis does start evicting members because they're asking to play stuff that isn't the exact same setlist time and time again, it wouldn't be the least unexpected thing! It's getting increasingly disappointing seeing the same stuff night after night. Even the new song has only had the one airing, hasn't it?
I've not been on here much lately, but I gather that Nick has said that both he and Mark had pushed for different setlists, but were turned down...?
Seriously, if Jarvis does anything, physically, mentally or verbally to hurt Mark on this tour and I find out, I will go GEAR 5 LUFFY on his scrawny ass.

Thats interesting. Where did that story come from? Inclined to think no smoke without a fire though. They havent said that Mark was sick or anything

Yes, it's a real shame. The band knows how much gigs cost (and how much they cost right now) so it'd be nice if they could vary the experience more. After all, part of the reason fans attend gigs is that they have hopes of hearing their favourite songs!
Last night was very much a return to form with the old setlist. No 'After You' either. Although if Mark was ill, perhaps they'd prefer to change it up when he's there with them? Clutching at straws maybe, but with Tom filling in maybe it interfered with intentions to add more variety?
They're currently playing to 99% of an audience that hasn't seen them on this tour, and the investment in the lights and staging is being repaid so I'm not going to expect any surprises. The fact they are preforming brand new material for me easily trumps a Little Girl & Other Pieces live reprise.
Fair's fair, new Pulp music is utterly incredible (and the music IS utterly incredible). And Sturdy is right RE deep cuts. Hope Mark gets better soon and if he's got a cold, better keep that scarf of his on!

I definitely saw that rumour earlier in this thread. A few hours ago.
Speaking of records, in 24 years I think this may be the most tragic thing I've ever posted on this forum. Which is quite the boast, all things considered.

See also, I suppose, Jarv and Candida playing Birds on Jonathan Ross, and whichever radio show they did the live acoustic session for which ended up on the B Side to Common People!

Isn't this one famous for some reason? Did Elton use it or something?
