This one sold me on Monday Morning! A song I hadn't liked so much before... but wow, it's good

I love the random performance of Little Girl that followed! Russell making excellent usage of his cross-instrumental talents with bowed guitar and Jarvis letting a baby doll sob into his microphone during the bridge!

I remember someone on here (Jayenkai?) shared an upload of it on the forum before YouTube or at least before all these TV archive performances were on there and I thought it was Everything.

God, No Stilettos is so amazing. If I had to pick a specific favourite it'd be that.

And I Spy on Jools is iconic, of course!

 I agree with that 100%.

On the more quirky side, I always remember Pulp playing Inside Susan in the background on Seans Show

I think the two 1995 Most Wanted shows are their absolute Britpop era peak. Really firey exciting renditions of DC songs that have never been bettered in my opinion. I'm taking credit for the couple of seconds that appear in the C5 doc!

White Room absolutely too. First outing for Monday Morning, different lyrics and maybe a little darker and more panicky than it ended up being. Little Girl, of course, didn't get broadcast till much later, a nice Christmas treat!

I Spy on Later is still mesmeric. The watching Morrissey (also on the show that evening) must have been sulking or seething or both. Northern popstar with wit, moves and tunes? Completed it mate.

Ha! Last night I literally re-read the bit of Uncommon where Owen Hatherley says Cocker's a more effective frontman than Morrissey. Or, y'know, words to that effect.

I'm quite partial to this more recent Pulp performance of 'Like a Friend':

- Common People on Britpop Now in 1995... Jarvis using the camera to maximum effect.

- Mis-Shapes on The Big Breakfast in 1995... just because Nick clearly can't be arsed with the miming! :)

- Help The Aged on the Ali G Show in 2000... alright, it was just Jarvis, but it was bloody brilliant. Should have put it out as a single.

- The Birds In Your Garden on Jonathan Ross in 2001... a sweet appearance by Jarvis & Candida.

- DYRTFT? on Hootenanny in 2002... my fave performance.

I'll always put in a word(!) for this great performance. It does have some sentimental resonance though as it aired the night before I saw Pulp live for the first time thus increasing my excitement and anticipation to fever pitch levels. Anyway, I really like it and Mark's hair always raises a smile.

ETA of course I can't get the video to embed but check it out if you haven't seen it.

I second that performance by Jarvis and Candida on the JR show. I also love the mimed performance of Disco 2000 on TOTP but from Marseille! Probably nostalgia but I liked Jarvis' jumper and moves!

Actually, yes - this. The misheard-ness on both sides, ("What makes me what?" - "Sorry?" will never not raise a smile) and the thoughtful yet instant reflection on wasps v bees...the man shudda been a comic.

Truly. I feel like he even holds the mic kind of like a standup would, more so than anyone else in pop.

That time on TOTP when Radio 1 decided not to play Pulp anymore, & Jarvis looked like he was sticking his fingers up at the BBC doing Bad Cover Version :)

Huh...really? If so, what a way for his TOTP history to come full circle with the theme of protest. Far ballsier than the I Hate WetWetWet stunt too.

Absolutely no question here, all 3 songs on No Stilettos, 1993, are just perfection.
His N Hers on Butt Naked, 1994, is a close second.
The Jools Holland performance of I Spy is another favourite to the point I almost prefer it to the album version.

Never liked that White Room version of Monday Morning much. The lyrics are too underdeveloped. Absolutely adore the song though, easily one of the best on DC.

Adding another vote for No Stilettos. Also love Town & Country Club, 1991. Those versions of Death II and Countdown are fantastic, also a big fan of Russell's unhinged violin playing on Separations there.
