Since the gigs I've been craving art that contains that almost intangible Pulp element. I always check out the authors or artists or musicians that Jarvis recommends and since he spoke about Lydia Davis in Sheffield I'm going to buy a book of her short stories. Do any of you do the same, and if you do, do you have any recommendations for books to read that make you feel of Pulp?* I'm particularly looking for short story collections. I plan on also reading books by Mary Gaitskill, Nicole Flattery and Lorrie Moore.

*I realise that we all get something different out of Pulp and there's every chance you've never connected the band with literary or visual art but hey, there must be at least one more of us who takes an holistic approach to art. I'm always looking for other works of art that articulate that particular feeling you can get from music or literature or visual art. How can I listen to that author or read more about the emotions in those songs.

I haven't bought any books but I listened to Baxter Dury a couple of times before the Manchester show and I liked him enough to add some of his songs to my streaming playlists.

I'm actually writing a play at the mo that's a little inspired by Pulp and Jarvis!

Yay! Good luck with that. I love to hear things like that. Artists inspiring art. I've been inspired as well.
