See they've made it onto the main BBC News page today! Must be a reporter at a loose end at Latitude.

Sent them a couple of corrections on Twitter - "Misfits" indeed!

Did anyone make it then? How was it?

Hey.. I've been lurking since the reunion, enjoying reading everyone's thoughts..

I have been to 3 of the shows - Finsbury, Fri Sheffield & yes Latitude.

So we all know Pulp totally deliver, just incredible performances at all 3, once I realised the set was pretty much staying the same I made peace with that.

So Latitude: I guess it was a typical festival crowd, the majority probably knew a few Pulp songs, and are happy to just camp out on the main stage all day regardless of what is on it. Once we realised that it was impossible to actually find a good spot (we'd just seen the wonderful Dry Cleaning), due to a sea of Picnic Blankets and Trailers for dragging around tired and bored small children (literally creating walls in the crowd) my daughter and I thought sod it and pushed our way down the front, normally we stand down the front for hours (e.g Sheffield & Finsbury) but we realised we had no choice and had made a mistake thinking we'd hang back for this one. So as Metronomy finished we made our way through, held our ground and when Pulp arrived really went for it, much to the bemusement of many around us (I'm 47, she's 16).. Overall it was a good friendly vibe. When it got to Weeds quite a few people started to leave creating a bit of breathing space.

Anyhow, We had such a great time, much better experience than Finsbury where a drunk group turned up in front of us with bottles of wine hanging off each other and generally being a pain in the arse to everyone around them, took me right out of the zone. Oh well.

Obviously nothing will top our Sheffield experience, probably one of the best overall gig experience I've ever had. Hawley support, friendliest crowd ever and watching Jarvis point at my daughter as she was singing her heart out to Razzmatazz. Haha.

Out of the 3 Latitude was in the middle. So much of it is about the people around you and what you decide bring to the party.

Thanks for reading my ramble.

M

Nice review, Maffy, and welcome. Glad you've passed the love of Pulp on to another generation :) you think when you're in the crowd that the band can't see you but you've a great view from a stage! That will be a moment to treasure for her. So true the crowd around you can make or break it a bit and you're nearly just as well moving if the crowd around you isn't good. Dont understand people going to gigs to get completely drunk or talk the way through it. You have to find the people who want to go wild singing as well :) festivals can be disappointing that way. I felt that a bit at electric picnic in 2011 but this time around was fantastic because we were around likeminded souls belting out every tune in unison. Here's to many more.
