DYRMTFT being moved to the middle of the set on this tour rather than the start really adds something - the energy in the room with the crowd singing along just makes it feel completely euphoric. That gets my vote.
I love the opening with I Spy as well, with that long drawn out intro and all the theatrics.
Though I feel like I should be saying Hymn of The North after last night, it certainly pulled the heartstrings.
This whole tour has been something else.
True that. And I would never have had I Spy down as a concert opener. If you'd asked me before the gig I would've thought DYRTFT was the better opener but you're spot on that the sequence of those songs is really working. I might have to vote for I Spy and I used to hate it when I was a child. I'd fast forward that to get to Disco 2000. People on the board have said it was like a Bond theme and it really is on this tour. Another bit though that I loved was with Like A Friend and Jarvis solo in front of the curtains for the first part and then them drawing back to reveal the full band again and the classic Pulp logo.
It's a little bit of a shame that they've shortened Like a Friend a little, they reach the main core of the lyrics quicker than they do on record. But then the song goes on longer at the end, which is good.
Disco 2000 for me. Not my favourite song of the setlist, but I loved hearing the entire crowd shriek with delight as Mark kicks in with the guitar riff. Gets everyone off their arses and sets the tone for the rest of the night.
For me, Glory Days has been the highlight song of the tour. The song alone is quality with the orchestra and vocals, however the backdrop was just fantastic - it made it complete.
"Glory Days" also gets my vote. Everything in the set projects an image of a band that is on top of their game but "Glory Days" takes it to another level. Also, I had never thought of it as a finishing song but if anything it seems to work better than "Sunrise" or "Common People".
voted pink glove bcos its one of my favourite pulp songs and im so glad its part of the setlist - from what ive seen online glory days wouldve been a good option to choose too bcos of the visuals (and i love the song) but i havent heard it live yet
