Hi there!

As mentioned in a previous thread, the 14th July Arena gig is also coincidentally the 20th anniversary of my book, 'Truth & Beauty: the Story of Pulp' coming out. I'd be delighted if anyone wanted to join me in raising a glass to it that afternoon.

I've booked out the Snug at Shakespeare's (146-148 Gibraltar St, S3 8UB) from 3pm so that should give us a good few hours to hang out before heading to the Arena. I might even bring a couple of spare copies of the book so anyone who needs a copy can get one direct from source at the original cover price, rather than shelling out daft prices on Ebay. (Do let me know if you'd be in the market for this, as I'm not gonna lug them with me if no one says they want one!)

There might even be one or two special guests - will have to see about that though...

Think that's about it - do RSVP if you think you'll come along.

My coach pulls into Pond Street at 12.15. Then I have to find my accommodation on City Road (if lastminute.com haven't fucked up) but I'll head up that way as soon as I've got myself sorted.

I visited the Shakespeare on my way back from The Wicker, back in September. It's between Lady's Bridge and Shalesmore isnt it? I had a very nice apricot and passionfruit beer, but I doubt they'll still have it in stock.

Wow ! 20 years since I requested Truth and Beauty for my birthday at age 12 ! 

 

I've still got your book Sturdy, and spent many a school night reading it in bed when really, I should have been asleep

You've obviously heard it a thousand times but - it's a great great book Sturdy ! Thanks for my 12th birthday present 20 years ago !

My ticket is for Saturday, so I was planning on only staying over on the Saturday night, but am very tempted to extend for the Friday night. It would be really lovely to meet up with you all.

Don't worry about the swearing Sturdy, my 12 year old mind was already busy trying to work out the meaning of a line in Do you remember first time - something regarding a toy reaching places

 

Honestly though, your book set me off deep down the Pulp path. Reading about Tree Bound Story help me discover Richard Hawley, who at the time had just released Coles Corner and that turned out to be 'Album of the week' on Mark Radcliffes BBC radio 2 show. It was literally me discovering one thing after another through reading your book.

i arrive in town on the 14th. would be great to meet up with like minded folks!!!

I have a ticket for sat, but wondering if it would be worth heading up with you folks on friday. both as a trial run (since i'm from waaaay out of town), but also if anyone outside needs to ditch a ticket.

do people use venmo or paypal for those situations? or will i need to have money in hand?.....45 years old and never done it lol

So the Leopold have managed to add an extra night on for me on Friday on top of the original Saturday that I had booked. I'd love to come to Shakespeare's. I never indulged in a copy of Truth and Beauty when I was first tempted as I was concerned at the time that I was already losing myself to an unhealthy degree in Pulpworld, but I am in a much healthier state now, so if you do have a spare copy Sturdy, I think this would be a good time.

 Been back in the UK since leap day 2016, so quite a while now!

Never say never to a book on Pulp, actually pitched one to the 33 1/3 people a while back, but currently have roughly double the number of projects I can nmanage on the go already.

It's 5:50 and I have just parked in Rockingham St car park. Worst journey I have had in a long time - weather and traffic wise. Just the M42 took 2 and a half hours. On a positive note, if I'd come tomorrow like I originally planned,  I would be seriously bricking it by now.
