Five days to go until the next gig, and intriguingly, Richard Hawley will be supporting the band as well as The Orielles.
More setlist speculation - could this mean Hawley features on some Pulp songs? Maybe Dublin gig-goers might get Live Bed Show, or the elusive Lipgloss?
Whatever happens, it's gonna be one hell of a night...
I was at Soft Cell last night at the same venue. A bit miffed that there's a "Gold Circle" pit, didn't realise the tickets had tiered pricing. Gorgeous park though and well-organised. Marc Almond was missing his partner Dave Ball who is still recovering from a physical injury sustained last year. To be honest, when I saw them at Hammersmith Apollo 18 months ago he needed the use of a cane to hop up onto his synth-station.
Great evening though, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and OMD were fine support, getting the crowd going. I thought the stage swallowed poor Marc up for the first half of Soft Cell's set. There'll be no fear of that with our Jarv next week. A pity there's not more pop in the undercard, even if it's cute that it's an all-Sheffield affair.
But yes, with Hawley on-board, hopefully he can bring some welly to songs that need it and may be contenders for debut outings on this "Encore" tour (Lippy, Party Hard, Fear).
There's 70 tickets up on Twickets for this, a lot of them at vastly reduced amounts. No tickets available for any other Pulp show on there. Makes me sad that my compatriots are happy to ditch Pulp. I did think it was an ambitious venue for them, I think they would only have sold-out a park in Ireland in 1996.
Also a bit disappointed that for this venue's set of summer gigs, Pulp is apparently the only one where they charge for entry to the pit/space nearest the front of the stage. I wonder whose decision that was as it was a greedy one.

It would be 69 but for a grand balls up on my part in recent days. As far as the golden circle is concerned the tickets in there are cheaper than Pulp at Finsbury Park.
I know they are but at all the other St Anne's Park gigs, you can just ask for a wristband for free to enter the pit/Gold Circle. Had I known that at Soft Cell last week I would have gone in but I assumed like for the Pulp gig, my ticket didn't permit me.
Anyway, looking forward to tomorrow. My brother who is accompanying me, is only 25 but has grown up on Pulp thanks to me - he must have been the only toddler in the world singing along to Birds In Your Garden in 2002.

.he must have been the only toddler in the world singing along to Birds In Your Garden in 2002.
Not true, we have a video of my 2 year old son singing it! His other favourites were "Its not the end of the world" by Super Furry Animals and "Reward" by Teardrop Explodes. My wife wasnt too happy when he used to sing Birds in public
As for me, there was a cine film of me aged 6 singing "Two Little Boys" in a guardsman uniform At my uncles wedding. Hopefully it has perished.

Your Legendary Son
My Legendary Brother
Are you going to be at the gig tomorrow?
No. Long story, but was meant to be in Ireland this weekend for Pulp and Munster Hurling final, but there were some crossed wires especially regarding the latter. My uncle called me to ask where we were meeting in Limerick on Sunday which surprised me as I thought game was in Thurles. Had a look, but tickets were sold out.

That Ambassador gig was my first ever concert! Just turned 17, my sister who was 18 (Irish twins, see?) got ID'd but thankfully I didn't. I never knew about the shortened set or thrown Guinness til reading about it years later on PulpPeople. Just remember taking it all in and being giddy with joy.

Apparently it sold out in 20 minutes!
I know. Munster hurling final is always difficult to get tickets for, but playing it in Limerick just meant there was excessive demand. Still I have the all Ireland semis in July to look forward to, they are easier to get tickets for. Up The Banner!

Can't wait to see some audience videos! Although I lament the loss of Dishes - I always prefer the less obvious ones - that, along with Mis-Shapes being brought forward, will surely keep the crowd in a frenzy before they cool off a little with Weeds/Weeds II.
