The video isn't up yet but will be soon. And the single is already on streaming services! Listed as 'Lipgloss EP', includes cover art and both of the B-sides.
A new one will be added each week...

A pity Babies I and Razz are not included. But it's all just bells and whistles, hopefully it leads up to a proper physical box with unheard songs/recordings for us.
Are Ansaphone (non-demo) and That Boy's Evil the only B-Sides not on streaming, as they were left off the deluxe editions?

From the video screenshots on Twitter it looks like an AI upscale rather than a genuine remaster from the original film/VT materials.
Would be nice to think they would be able to find the original film elements for some videos (Babies, Razzmatazz, This Is Hardcore etc) and re-transfer them for a genuine upgrade, but I'm highly doubtful.
The main issue I have with these 'upscales' as they often remove throw the baby out with the bath water by smoothing out details (particularly on faces) and introducing artefacts by oversharpening edges to a ridiculous degree. Plus too many people don't understand the importance of interlacing and frame rates.

Stealing Hugo's whole thing, then - he's already put a lot of work into reproducing tons of Pulp videos in higher fidelity. I doubt a rival AI upscale of Pulp could create any better results than what he's already done.
If it's a genuine remaster then fantastic, if it's not then don't pass it off as one. Especially as you're absolutely right, AI upscales generally look like dogwank.
Could be building up to doing them all, up to The Trees/Sunrise and Bad Cover Version, thereby reigniting peoples' interest in the latter singles... and then announcing We Love Life (Deluxe) the next week !!!
B-side versions of Tomorrow Never Lies and Cocaine Socialism; the extended versions of Live Bed Show and The Fear; the alternate mixes of Disco 2000 and A Little Soul; the acoustic tracks from the Pete Aherne show; F.E.E.L.I.N.G.C.A.L.L.E.D.L.O.V.E. live; the 'bad cover versions' of Sorted and Disco 2000; and all the dance mixes, many of which are absolutely great, including a few only ever released on vinyl... there's a fair amount that isn't currently available. The deluxe editions also featured slightly edited versions of Your Sister's Clothes and The End of the Line version of This Is Hardcore, hopefully the proper versions of those will be rereleased. I'll be really interested to see what happens with the multi-format singles, whether we get CD1 and CD2 releases, or all the tracks in a new EP release. If I were doing it, I'd throw in all the international B-sides as well... and the radio edits!

This is what I'm most excited for. I've always preferred the music video/7" mix of D2000 so it'll be great to finally have it on-demand, 24/7, anytime, anyplace!
I've seen the official remaster for Lipgloss, and, indeed, it's completely an AI upscale... i compared their remaster with mine's and god... (now with the experience i can do it better for this video) the official don't looks HD at all, it's a weird thing... and it looks very artificial. I'm working on remasters like a year, so, i learned lots of tricks so now i can do it even better than the first time. In fact, i will make a NEW one, to see a real comparison between their's and mine. It would be CRAZY if universal figures out my work and we can do someting together but we all know this will never happen.
PD: i take advantage of this moment to say that i'm looking for more VHS tapes for remasters, more details, email me

The Suede ones are all the tracks from each format as one EP

All this must take you ages! Great commitment and the results are superb. Thank you for doing them.

I dont suppose there will be a physical set of these. I have all the CDs from back in the day, but vinyl would be interesting.
Such good news guys, Universal Music Group deleted the copyright infringements for Lipgloss MV and maybe for the rest of the videos... I've made a new remaster i will upload very soon.
I have those coloured vinyl reissues of the "His 'n' Hers" and "Different Class" singles from 1996 and they are certainly very interesting.
Legend has it that there is some sort of box-set containing the above but I have never seen one of these (was it official?).

Found a couple of the CD singles Pulp did in the Island years, and my god, i can't wait for the proper releases. Ive got most bar about 2 DC CD2 singles, help the aged and a little soul from TIH and the WLL singles, so i've still got something to look forward to. Watched the Lipgloss shoddy 'remaster' if we can even call it that. Hugo's work will always remain supreme and will always be the first choice for me as with others hopefully. I hope this leads to more releases from Pulp (that bloody WLL deluxe in mind) and some of the demos and unreleased tracks coming to light. crossing my fingers for a box set of some kind.

Some enterprising bootlegger did print some boxes up. I think there was one for sale on Esprit years ago but they weren't official. There was a bit of a run on 7" reissues at this point- I think Kula Shaker did the same and there was an official box.
The cynic in me wonders whether one of the major drivers for this exercise is that Jarvis is tired of seeing the Singles and EPs section of streaming services being dominated by Fire reissues, and wants to dilute it a little?

Also a greater source of revenue for him and the band if there's more material available for streaming - although the likes of Spotify hardly pay big bucks.
I have put together a timeline below, this assumes that they will release all formats for each single at the same time rather than week by week:
16 June 2023 The Sisters EP
23 June 2023 Common People
30 June 2023 Mis-Shapes / Sorted for E's and Wizz
07 July 2023 Disco 2000
14 July 2023 Something Changed
21 July 2023 Help the Aged
28 July 2023 This is Hardcore
04 August 2023 A Little Soul
11 August 2023 Party Hard
18 August 2023 The Trees / Sunrise
25 August 2023 Bad Cover Version
01 September 2023 After You (?)
I think that Babies Edit has been replaced with the full length 94 version from His 'n' Hers, and called Single Mix. At least, that's what it sounds like to my ears.
Your Sister's Clothes fades out, as per the vinyl and the His 'n' Hers deluxe edition, rather than continuing directly into Seconds, as per the original Sisters CD and the appearances on compilations like Second Class.
To satisfy my curiosity, I bought the EPs (from Qobuz) and am now certain that all tracks are copied from His 'n' Hers Deluxe. So we have the wrong mix/edit of Babies with a misleading title, and the same version of Your Sister's Clothes we had before.
Common People is the first single where Universal could look very silly if they don't upload some of the original tracks, so looking forward to next Friday to see what happens. If it's just the full-length CP and Underwear, then we'll know it's just a repackaging exercise for the existing Deluxe tracks. I'm hoping for the CD2 acoustic tracks at minimum; the 7" edit ideally; the Motiv 8 mixes if they are really paying attention to the back catalogue; and the Black Session tracks from the French B-sides if someone from Universal reads Pulp Wiki (though by that logic, the acoustic tracks would have appeared with Do You Remember the First Time?, so very unlikely). I'll explode with surprise if they include the German vinyl remixes.
Something worth mentioning about the Qobuz filenames: they generally contain the artist and track title, so I was expecting to see them under Pulp, as shown on their release page (www.qobuz.com/gb-en/album/the-sisters-ep-pulp/jgj7k6n8tm0db), and indeed the EPs download as Pulp-Lipgloss_EP, Pulp-The_Sisters_EP, etc. Yet the individual tracks within these EPs are all titled Steve_Mackey:
e.g. 01-01-Steve_Mackey-Babies-LLS 01-02-Steve_Mackey-Your_Sister_s_Clothes-LLS 01-03-Steve_Mackey-Seconds-LLS 01-04-Steve_Mackey-His_N_Hers-LLS
So, I'm now considering these to be Steve Mackey commemorative releases.

On Qobuz, release dates are very confusing. It's the original dates... If they've just copied and pasted tracks from deluxe Edition, then it's a total mess.
The release dates are the same across all the streaming and download sites that I've seen, they've been published under old dates. I see the same on Spotify, 7digital, iTunes, etc.
And the copying of tracks from the Deluxe Editions seems to be uniform across all platforms... I wasn't suggesting Qobuz were to blame for that. They're just my preferred music store!

The main issue I have with these 'upscales' is they often throw the baby out with the bath water by smoothing out details (particularly on faces) and introducing artefacts by oversharpening edges to a ridiculous degree.
Just looked at DYRTFT? on my 4K telly and sad to say it looks absolutely horrible for exactly the reasons above. Think I'll stick with the Hits DVD.
The extended mix of Pencil Skirt with Russell's violin solo at the beginning and a proper conclusion, instead of the lazy fade out that turns the song into something wholly more palatable and interesting.
I can't recall off hand- where did that originally appear???
Pencil Skirt with an extended ending? Not sure I can place that, but any live versions have a few extra bars at the start (where the album version fades in - very effectively, IMHO). The Peel Session got released like that.
Checking tickets yesterday at Ped Gate C. Two customers came through, and my keen eye caught their address ** Lyndhurst Grove.
They knew the song, they've met Jarvis and will be watching them on Saturday. What are the chances of me checking tickets of people who live on Lyndhurst Grove .
Just on my final shift now, I'm free at two for the rest of the festival
I went out on a limb and emailed Universal after the mix-up with the tracks on The Sisters EP reissue. Didn't expect anything back. But I had a nice call today with the music consultant who has been putting together the reissues, and we're swapping notes so that the uploads can be corrected.
Following today's "Common People", we now know that they are including all tracks from each format. Here is what we can expect (those that haven't already been reissued are in italics):

Thanks, I had totally forgot about the extended version of "Live Bed Show" and the other versions of "Bad Cover Version". I thought the remixes of "The Trees" and "Sunrise" were only on the promo but they were on the official 12"
I cannot wait for what's to come, both obscure and little gems. Obviously im most excited for CocSoc B side version but also Ansaphone and The Fear (Complete and Utter Breakdown Version) to name some. I'll give some of the terrible remixes i used to listen to on my dad's stereo and think WTF to another chance when they are released but i doubt my 8 year old self will be wrong in what he used to think. things are speeding up
Now if someone could have a word with Fire about the state of their Pulp singles. Countdown with a 2003 release date? They Suffocate at Night with Don't You Know as the lead track??

sent them a message about it on their online portal and if i dont get a response ill email their head of digital as that would seem like the next logical step. fingers crossed we get some kind of response and amendment to them
yeah thats right, dont think its been able to be played for the majority of its life on the streaming sites which is a shame because i prefer listening to some of their tracks live and the peel sessions have some great renditions of them. hopefully once all the EPs are put up for streaming we will get some more content properly released. and also Fire havent got back to me but ill give them a week
Very disappointing to find that Mis-Shapes and Sorted are the album versions on the new EP, not the original single versions. I did point this out in advance but was warned that the lead-in time to get the files ready for streaming was too long, and there wasn't time to do anything about what had been queued up. But the label are aware, and have said they'll replace them down the line if they can.
I've been told that the errors from Disco 2000 onwards have been corrected, so fingers crossed this is the last of the mistakes.
I reckon we all do a match on the label, and anyway they can always change the song on the platform cant they if its the wrong one? Its just sending out we cant be bothered messages instead of actually making it a complete discography.

A few other differences, besides the rerecorded vocals for the censored lines... I've added some very detailed notes to the Wiki - pulpwiki.net/Pulp/MisshapesSortedSingle
I'm guessing that the Island employee(s) responsible for these didn't work there at the time they were originally released. It has been over 20 years. I'm not sure how convoluted the process is but there is every likelihood that they will make mistakes. It's quite good that they are willing to correct them.
With regards to the Fire singles. Yes, "Countdown" has a 2003 release date and there are two versions of "They Suffocate at Night" but one has "Don't You Know" as the lead track.
After everything has been uploaded, these are the songs that will be missing from streaming:
Everybody's Problem Everybody's Problem There Was...
They Suffocate at Night They Suffocate at Night (7" version) Tunnel (cut-up version)
Master of the Universe Manon (re-recorded version) Silence (like that's ever going to happen)
OU OU (radio edit)
My Legendary Girlfriend (Caff single) My Legendary Girlfriend (soundcheck) Sickly Grin Back in LA
Babies Sheffield: Sex City (Instrumental)
Additionally, as someone mentioned previously, the Peel sessions have been removed.
Phoned Fire earlier today regarding their singles and completing their side of the Pulp catalogue and the lady on the other end of the line said she'd be happy to follow up with everything we've said regarding track listings and dates.
She sent an email asking what was needed to be changed and what else needed adding so I sent her all of the corrections and additions needed for Fire, however, she did say the person in charge of this stuff was on a business trip but they can't say no-one tried as I gave them everything they needed.
As for the Caff single, not sure what to do with that, nor with the Gift stuff either. Think the Peel Sessions would be up to the BBC and that's a whole bigger matter than just an accessible record label

Sounds great. Imagine if the full "Master of the Universe" single ends up on there? That said, "Silence" and the re-recording of "Manon" have never been issued anywhere other than the original 12", certainly not on CD, so it's unlikely it will ever happen. The same is true for the Caff single apart from "Back in LA" being released on an obscure compilation in the 1980s.
I think that Island actually had something to do with the Gift singles, they released "Intro" which included everything but the two listed above.
In all fairness though, it's nice to be getting closer to the full discography even if we don't quite make it.

Sure but it just suggests that there's nothing planned in terms of an over-arching Pulp reissue campaign if they are half-arsed about this stuff. Major labels surely have staff whose job involves researching and curating on a regular basis.
From the conversations I've had with the consultant who's been putting the releases together with Mark Webber, there's just a messy archive at Island to blame. They're full of good intentions, but when they're calling up, say, Babies, there's nothing in the labelling that makes it clear that there are multiple mixes to choose between. The 2023 team had no reason to doubt it was correct. It certainly hasn't helped that songs like Babies, Mis-Shapes, Sorted for E's & Wizz, Party Hard and Bad Cover Version all had 'secret' single mixes that were never named as such on the sleeves... so it's been pot-luck whether the right versions were supplied by the archive.
I hope that they'll remember from this that it's helpful to involve some obsessive fans when putting these things together, because there's a level of knowledge that professionals could easily miss if they're just working from track titles. To be fair, this consultant is really passionate, he was at the Finsbury Park gig, he's been working on this project since January, and he loves that lots of old B-sides are being given a new lease of life. It's certainly not been half-arsed. And he's allowed me check out the upcoming releases to fix other mistakes, which proves they want to get it right. But, realistically, I doubt Jarvis even remembers that the B-side version of Underwear doesn't start with a split second of the end of F.E.E.L.I.N.G.C.A.L.L.E.D.L.O.V.E. like it does on the album. Or cares. But this team want to fix it, now they know.
I've noticed that the Deluxe Editions thanked a number of fans, so I imagine they consulted and checked with a variety of people when those listings were put together. Was anyone here involved...?

Cheers, hawalius1. Good to know that there's a passionate Pulp fan-turned-consultant working through the messy Island archives to bring all the releases onto strea-
Wait -
Hang on -
...there's a passionate Pulp fan-turned-consultant working through the messy Island archives ?!?!?!
LOL. I wish! No, I'm nowhere near the archives, I've just checked what was queued to be released, after all the work was done January-May this year. And have pointed out the things that weren't right, and told them to check the original singles for the right versions. I've not got any access beyond that.
Wow, it's now a tremendous coincidence that literally as I'm midway through listening to the demo of After You - the song that became their one-off reunion re-release in 2012 - they go and play a new bloody song. And we're joking about hearing unreleased material!

Might be worth an email or phone call to Island then later next week from me to see if we could get any Gift era singles released as well as trying to find something about Caff on the internet to see who does what with it as there's no trace anywhere. Which label released Everybody's Problem again?

The label behind Everybody's Problem and There Was is Cherry Red Records, and they released several indie pop compilations where these songs are in. Afortunately, this compilations are in streaming. Just search on Spotify "Scared to get Happy" (the name of one of the compilations) and look for Everybody's Problem.
Ahhh so whilst the songs dont show up on Pulps profile, we have got the actual songs on streaming. Very neat. So its only the Fire Records, Caff and Gift we need to find now. Shouldnt be too much of a problem
More than a year ago i emailed Fire to fix some errors like "dont you know" on they suffocate at night single and the wrong date on Dogs Are Everywhere EP. they only fixed They Suffocate at Night but actually we have both versions up! What a mess...
Just been having my random ridiculous early morning thoughts that's caused me to look up songs that Pulp released on compilations but aren't easily found or possibly not on streaming site such as Spotify. I made an impromptu list if anyone has any idea of the links to any of these if they are indeed somewhere on the internet but it only came to me after seeing the list that Ian made of the songs missing from official single releases.
Anyway here's the list and any help would be appreciated, i get its a long shot but you never know as Hugo proved to me about Everybody's Problem that was hidden away on Spotify that I couldn't find. I've already had a quick look but nothing came up so anyone who might've saved the song in the past might be able to help?
What Do You Say?

My Body May Die
My First Wife
Grandfather's Nursery.

Thank you.
Youtube is a surprisingly good treasure trove for rare Pulp stuff.
Sorry if this has already been covered, a lot to take in - does anyone know if the 2023 Lipgloss & Do You Remember singles are sourced from the originals or from the more compressed deluxe edition? (They are sadly also more compressed on Second Class too, according to the dynamic range database.). Might have to track down some original CDs, as I never saw these for cheap back in the 90s.
Im not sure, but ive got some Pulp singles on MP3 sourced from the original CD singles if thats easier than you going out of the way to buy the singles? drop me a message with your email if it sounds good and ill send them over. Ive definitely got Lipgloss and i think i have Do You Remember The First Time?
I'm not sure what you mean, can you be specific? I've got the original CD singles, Second Class and the Deluxe albums, and can't see any difference between them: all sound fine.
If you check the singles at PulpWiki I've added notes about how the EPs released so far differ from the original singles. The title tracks for Lipgloss and DYRTFT are not precisely the same as the original singles... but I wouldn't say they were compressed.
Most Pulp CD singles are dirt-cheap at Discogs.

James Nice of LTM/Les Disques du Crépuscule managed to get the tracks from the Field Mice single on Caff released as part of their CD reissue programme, so maybe he's a good place to start?
