This is a bit disappointing so far right ? They promised big stuff and nothing is coming bar the tour. Maybe the passing of Steve changed the plan. That would be understandable.
But there is so much to do, so many bands are releasing stuff and Pulp is sitting on golden material from the 90s, go figure !
Oooh... fascinating. So he's said there is big news coming soon.
So the options are:
New single
An album
World tour
A famous festival - I shan't name it at fear of being deemed an obsessive on this here forum of obsessives...
Leadmill warmup gig (only one possible date avail and it would proceed 'Abba night' so unlikely)
New band member
Other.
Struggling to work out what it could be other than more gigs. As a fellow Glasto obsessive, whos sadly not going, I think they will be there one way or another, but doubt it will be announced beforehand. Itll become apparent on the day; just like last time.
Was about to begrudgingly agree with you Andy but then I read Nick's latest tweet (Sun May 21st) !!
ahah, right on time i was
Could it be that the big announcement he teased few days ago was delayed because of Blur ?
Well i hope for some kind of material to be honest. My wish is the release of a box set with rarities and the WLL demos. A new album is unlikely and only one new song wouldn't feel that big to be honest.
Obviously a bigger tour is coming, would it be that Big of a news ? No. I mean... BOX SET IT HAS TO BE
though following-up Hits with a compilation called Misses would be hilarious, full of songs that would never chart but that are the most fabulous, Pulpy tracks out there, like Acrylic Afternoons, I Spy, Wicker Man, etc
But not Sex City. Thats OURS

Maybe that big announcement will be the setlist or line-up...
I doubt this qualifies as big announcement. And they 200% wont announce a setlist. its never been done before by any band or that's a specific tour when they play that or that album in order.

Actually a convo I had with Giles Acrylic! Here are the songs I'd go for:
O.U. (Gone, Gone) Acrylic Afternoons She's A Lady Pink Glove Live On Mis-Shapes I Spy F.E.E.L.I.N.G.C.A.L.L.E.D.L.O.V.E. Bar Italia Dishes The Professional Seductive Barry Glory Days Like a Friend Wickerman After You
Enough lists (!), I wonder when this news is going to be announced - before they kick things off on Friday?
Shit, sorry! Getting carried away here...
Is support confirmed for the Bridlington gig? The announcement could be a surprise support act, or one for their actual shows... it could be something they drop before the gig on Friday.
Also, the day after Bridlington could be a good day if they want to drop an announcement, they'd already be trending/people excited from the day before.
Here's hoping for a new release...there's got to be something left kicking around in the archives. Did they record anything fresh in 2012? Was it just After You they re-recorded? Pulp often like to go back and revisit old stuff... hence the fact they're playing Bridlington and Finsbury...
WLL Box Set is a wonderful idea. And someones gonna make a fortune someday if only they could market this stuff right

The fact that Universal already turned down WLL Deluxe, citing unmarketability, is maddening considering their decisions conspired against Pulp at every turn. Oh, the album underperformed, did it? Didn't sell enough for you to justify re-release? I wonder who's fault that is...
The whole lesson learned from Common People is that you release something when it's fresh, when its time is ripe - sitting on Sunrise for an age, rather than ushering it out into the world after Reading/Leeds, and then splitting it with Trees... and then releasing Bad Cover Version half a year later (it should've been an Xmas single). I mean, my choices wouldn't necessarily be better (I'd have released The Only Way is Down a week before the album).
There's such a huge volume of music from back then. Cuckoo getting a form of release indicates that Jarvis is at least conscious of it...
'New' Pulp, in whatever form that implies, would find an audience. If After You - for donkeys' years an unreleased demo - can make it into GTA V, then the sky's the limit, surely?
Re 2012, they did bugger-all press and never said much about After You when promoting Life, Death and Safeways in 2014. I could never find any quotes from James Murphy on the session which is a shame as I wonder what his thoughts were on the collaboration.
did you have time to write any of them down? Weve always had to take what we can
unfortunately no. The track titles were all very clear, sometimes there was like 5 versions of the same songs. Only a few a few bits of each were heard. I hate when it happens coz you wake up and of course you dont remember the melody. So frustrating.
