Just curious about the e-book edition - what's the quality of images like? There are a few bits in the print edition where I'd love to be able to zoom in and get a better look at some of the fliers and stuff - eg the montage on p217. I'm hoping the text might be a bit more legible than in the print edition?

I used an Audible credit to download it & have Jarvis read it to me which was totally worth it for the lovely style he reads it & the added sound effects which make you feel like you're in the attic with him.

it also comes with a PDF file so you can view all the images that way.

Ah cool. How's the quality of the images? Specifically, if you zoom in on the montage of flyers at the end of chapter 17 (p217 in the print edition), is it possible to read the text on them? Can't really make much of it out in the print version...

And... are there any unreleased Pulp audio snippets in there, other than the "aaah the sun!" moment?

I'd quite like the audio book, since Jarvis is reading the whole thing, that would be a treat.

How do you download it - I have an aged laptop, and no clue about apps and things. Is it an mp3 that you can listen to on a computer or burn to CD?

Burn to CD?! You'd need about half a dozen of them. Nah, Audible or similar apps, they'll stay in your library there even after you stop subscribing. You could probably do a month free trial and get it that way without paying owt.

Just Google 'Audible' & you'll get a link for a free trial for the app.. You should also get a free credit to download a book... so it won't cost anything to listen to it/view it.

I went back to check out the PDF file again but I've achieved the book to save space & I would have to download the lot to have another look. Presumably you could plug your phone/device into a PC/Laptop & rip the PDF file for viewing at your leisure.

For me, I just found it an easier, more convenient method of looking at the pictures. I bought a physical signed copy of the book as well but found it a bit cumbersome - Plus my dog tends to eat nice things like books, CDs & vinyl & I didn't want to leave it lying around!

As for extra audio... there was a brief snippet from the band's early rehearsal but it's basically just noise!

Please be aware that if you do end up giving Audible money that they are an Amazon company & other tax paying audiobook vendors are available.

Are there, though? Other audiobook vendors, I mean. I'd like to think so but haven't heard of any with a broad selection of titles. Amazon hoovered it all up.

Thanks for that tip - I'll avoid Audible even for a free download. I haven't bought from Amazon for a decade, since seeing a documentary about grim employment practices. I hear they've improved because of the bad PR, but in my local town they laid off about 100 people just after Christmas - short term contracts were ending but staff were verbally assured that contracts would be renewed, and asked not to leave for other jobs, then they were all dropped anyway at short notice. I don't want to get something a few pence cheaper at the cost of someone else's wage slavery. Too much trade is being hogged by one company, which is surely a REALLY BAD THING for all of us, and now they're advertising groceries.

I have found a free trial at Kobo (I have no idea how reputable this company are but they are not Amazon) & they also have the audiobook of Good Pop Bad Pop
