3 night weekend residencies from Pulp, the Monkeys, the Makers, the Lepperd and the League should be enough to pony-up the cash to sort this out...no?

I saw a Facebook post about this earlier on. It would be a shame if this happens.

Residencies from Pulp playing a couple of albums live each night?

Devastating if this happens. A Jarv Is gig would fill the place easily but if they wanted to do a gig to raise money, a bigger venue would obviously make more.

1 night at the arena would surely make enough to keep them in business for a few years

I'm not sure it's actually about money. I think it's more to do with the landlord wanting control of the venue over the current owners. There was a statement yesterday from the landlord saying that he intended to keep it as a live music venue. Of course the issue with that is that the current managers own the name The Leadmill. There sure are a lot of hot takes and misinformation going on about the whole situation here in Sheffield at the moment.

Hot takes where cool heads are needed.
Let's hope it ends well.

As Saw correctly states, it isn't a financial issue..
However, i do find it ludicrous that for all these years the same team who manage the Leadmill and it's affairs have never had the opportunity or means to buy the property..
It's surely been within their grasp on more than one occasion over the last 40+ years?

I just discovered a lovely clip of Jarv and Richard Hawley in the Leadmill campaign www.youtube.com/watch , the song well-written, Jarv's speech is touching.
As a foreigner, curious what's the current state of the venue? I've hoped to visit it when I had the chance to go to sheffield.

Interesting that you should ask now as just last week there was a positive development - the folk who run it won a court case to avoid being evicted but a decision on its ultimate future has been adjourned to a later date. The case was being heard in Leeds, I think they thought a Sheffield sitting would be a little too fraught with emotion.

As for the song "A Sunset", I'm sure there were Youtube clips of it uploaded soon after this gig but this is much better quality. The verses are similar to Heaven by Talking Heads (which Jarvis has covered live), I'm not sure about the chorus, seems a little weak/work-in-progress. Certainly not a patch on Hymn/Background Noise.

I would love to hear a Jarvis/Hawley full-album collaboration some time though, a live tour with the two of them trading stories or just chatting like on here, would be something special (and they could play all the stuff Richard was heavily involved-with pre-WLL - Grandfather's Nursery, Born To Cry etc.).

Hawley has a new solo album out next week too.

That is quite a lovely song to be fair. I dont know what it is about Hawley's acoustic playing, but its absolutely amazing - I always thought this during his time performing the WLL era stuff with Pulp.

Sadly I find this extraordinarily hard to imagine happening :(

Thx Fran !

So we've got 3 new songs :

Hymn of the North
Background Noise
A sunset

The big question now is : are these Jarv is songs or Pulp songs?

Cuckoo - released as a stand alone by Jarvis, but could easily be recorded full band.

After You - surely this would become an album track....

That's 5 songs alone which could be part of a new album. Plus anything else from previous demos.

A new album could easily be made from those demo sessions alone. For me, next year will be huge in my opinion.

A lot of people have said theyve been quite touched by it, Cocker said of the song. I didnt expect that. Today will be the third time that Ive done it in front of any audience. Obviously theres a song in it, so maybe that will get released.

tired of these maybezzzzzzzzzzz
