There's something really sad and beautiful about this. The lyrics obviously but the minor chords with the mournful violin teasing them out more, works really well too.
He has an undoubted talent for making a full song (often over 5 minutes) out of quite sparse music but the repetition works more often than not.
Interesting reuse of the line "You claim the Bible is a work of fiction then how do you explain this morning's crucifixion? " from I Found Myself Looking For God. A Mother, Brother, Lover moment. I'm always interested to wonder what's going on when he wanders into religious imagery.
I really focussed on trying to take it all in at the time. I am pretty rubbish though at appreciating new music straight off. I remember when Swanky Modes appeared as a new song and some people here were raving about it, I didn't get it that well at first, but now I absolutely love it. That's why I am in the spoiler group on here, knowing the bulk of the setlist beforehand, including that there was a new song, really helped me get in the right place to enjoy it. Surprises just tend to pass me by before I've even clocked what is going on. I shall keep rewatching the video, thanks for posting it.

On the subject of recycling... I've listened to Slow Jam many times, it's lovely.
Yet it reminded me of something, and I couldn't place it. I was going to ask in the 'remind' thread. Then finally realised what it was - it reminds me of Dishes. Of course there is a thematic resonance in the lyrics, with the JC symbolism. But it is that haunting melody which seems to recall Dishes; I wonder if it is a deliberate echo.
