I love that Jarvis still sings the "suede trousers with nothing underneath" line in She's A Lady rather than the line as recorded. Perhaps this is somewhat sacriligeous but the current band are probably the best musicians Jarvis has ever played with. I'm not denigrating Pulp because they had an intangible element, alchemy if you like, but they were often shoddy and disorganised live. I can take or leave Hawley tbh.

I wouldn't disagree (though Mark and Steve can hold their own). Didn't mean Hawley's expertise could have been utilised better, more that Russell's guitar parts on MLG played by anyone would be a good foil to Emma.
I didn't really intend to record it & just thought I'd have a lovely nightlike you, Scott. I was persuaded last minute to take my recorder & fortunately, for everyone else, I had a bit of a stonking hangover - so managed to just stay put with no bar or toilet visits & kept me gob shut throughout!

Cheers for this. He didn't play Children of the Echo at Newcastle then. I thought that was a bit of a highlight of the Sheffield show. A very static setlist throughout the tour though.
No. I assumed they swapped Save The Whale out in favour of it for the rest of the tour. Before playing STW, Jarv seemed to have to persuade one of the band that they should play it - might have been Emma, I couldn't quite tell from where I was standing.
Children of the Echo might be my least favourite songs on Beyond The Pale. I don't dislike it, it's just if I had to choose one for them to drop, that would have been the one.
However, I thought all of those album songs had a new lease of life the performances were solid and confident, so maybe It'd have given me a new found love for it.
I'm sure I saw (must be in the other thread) that someone has recorded the Sheffield night. It's nice that we've got one from the start (nearly) & end of the tour.
