Maureen is a funny one..
Never quite sure where it fits in Pulp world..
I do prefer the ping pong demo above the Sudan version though, that's only because i find the extra "right-now-now" vocal off putting..
I've yet to hear the "Bad" version..
How bad can it be?
Little girl & I Want you are perfectly nice, if only a bit swamped in reverb, but ace nonetheless..
Anyone on here ever heard the "bad" version?

I don't think I've heard or seen Little Girl from the Bad Maureen Demo, but I definitely agree that I Want You from this demo is amazing, on par if not better than the Freaks version. Shame there aren't a lot of performances of it from that era on record, although the revival of it in later years is nice.
Also, maybe the name "Bad Maureen" is ironic? Or maybe it sounds fine but Russell and Jarvis didn't like it? We may never know.

It was definitely called that because they weren't happy with the version of Maureen, feeling that it didn't live up to the garagey vibe it had when they first played it in the, um, garage.
I guess if it had as much reverb as the other tracks, the frenetic drumming would've sounded a bit of a mess!
