I say "garage", me.

Anyway, this is a recording from Pulp's first live show of 2000 at The Garage in London. This was a fan club concert and featured the debut performances of "Weeds", "Minnie" and "I Love Life".

Thanks for this.

I say garage by the way. The short northern 'a' is much nicer I think. I hope it lives as long as I do, but I'm starting to doubt. I live in County Durham, and I've noticed the soft southern 'th' sound (as in fink=think) is really common now among those pesky kids. 'Mam' is fading fast also - recent mothers day announcements in the local press were about Mum:Mam 1:2. Some people seem to find 'Mam' embarrassing now.

On the same lines - I was watching that BBC4 minimalism documentary the other day (the Charles Hazelwood one, featuring Jarvis). They go to great effort to pronounce Reich=Reissshhhh these days, yet in the documentary and on Rad3, Philip Glass is always 'Glaaars' (when the man himself uses the short 'a'). Seems wrong to mangle names like that. Same goes for Glaarsgow, and Newcaarsle. Mind you, I'd struggle to say Baarth.
