This says the capacity of the Peak Cavern is 120, and also says to "dress warm" - maybe that's the source of the "dress appropriately" bit, or whatever it was it said.

Missed out on Manchester. Liverpool and both Castleton gigs for me. (I'm abroad until 29th March so didn't have the option on the others). So excited!!!!

That was rather short notice. Seems to me the cavern performances are the main events and the other shows are like live rehearsals for the new material and band. I'd be interested in a cavern ticket.

I'm very surprised that the tickets for the 'caverns' and 'tunnels' gigs have remained on sale so long. I can't imagine the capacity at those places is *really* that huge. Hope they don't squash us all in so we're unable to see/hear particularly well...

I think so.

Pre-reunion: show a bit of respect, make a statement about it being a new chapter. Couple of acoustic versions of the classics at most.

At this stage I imagine anything is fair game. Have a bit of fun, the old and the new.

Though I think I'd like to hear Likely Stories most of all...

Hm, Im not sure if I want to hear Pulp songs. When I go to a Jarvis gig, I want to hear his songs. Hesgot enough songs to fill an evening. I don't want Jarvis to turn into Liam Gallagher whos got to lean on Oasis songs to get people to his gig. But; I am one of those people who believe that Further Complications, as an album, is better than most of Pulps albums.

If I go to a Jarvis (or JARV) gig I want to mostly hear solo Jarvis stuff, but I'd expect to hear one or two Pulp songs. After all, Jarvis is a showman, and he knows how to charm his audience. Hardcore-fans ache to hear the new stuff, but there'll always be a few casual fans in any crowd (and new Pulp fans too young even for the reunion shows) - and there is always a special frisson when a classic gets thrown into a setlist.

Not that I'll be hearing any of this new stuff - too slow, as always - but look forward to reading some reviews here.

I've always admired Jarvis for not playing the Pulp hits, like his peers did. But, as someone above said, maybe he got more distance to the songs and he will play a more varied set. But for me, I'd rather hear songs from A Heavy Night With.. or 5:55 than from His 'n' Hers or Different Class. From the gigs I have missed over the years, I most regret the Further Complications tour. The first solo tour was a blast, a top 3 definitely, but the songs from the second solo album were so good, that the second tour must have even been better.

His gigs for Rough Trade's 30th birthday six months before FC came out were great. Leftovers/Never Said I Was Deep and Discosong all sounded so vibrant. I was gutted when I heard the sterile versions on the album six months later. I thought Albini was meant to make it sound live!

Hopefully these live shows aren't better than what appears on the Jarv-Is record.

Agreed, FC is a masterpiece.

 

Jarvis has got a pretty good back catalogue from only two solo records. Sure, a couple of Pulp would be nice, but as you said, i dont want him to turn into Liam Gallagher

+ he could add some of Room 29: Salomé, Clara, or Ice Cream as Main course... That record is beautiful too. And seem to have the musicians for it.

 Really ? I never Said i was deep is probably in my top five tunes from Pulp / Jarvis. Such a great song, and production. That album is meant to be played loud, have you tried it ? biggrin

Agreed, it's a brilliant song but his voice is so quiet on the album unless you really turn up the volume which in turn increases the sound of those bloody horns.

The live version from Shepherds Bush in Nov'08 is incredible. I think I overdosed on listening to that on YouTube so when the album finally came out, disappointment was, perhaps, inevitable. Still, for a clean version I prefer the ones he did of the song in session for 6Music during the album promo.

Still, Jarvis has often thrown a cover-version in as an encore Silver Machine, Space Oddity etc - that seems an appropriate place for Pulp material if it's going to be played. Still, I take the point that his has been a fastidious refusal to play Pulp songs. Especially if those Pulp songs proved to be stronger than the solo stuff surrounding it... If he did, I'd be most thrilled to hear pre-His and Hers material. Especially if it was on the darker side - Manon for example

 I totally feel the exact same way, the warmth, the general sound of the song in Nov 08 was magical.
