FC is a very underrated record. before that, i never thought Jarvis could rock n roll, but really, it is a masterpiece. And Girls Like It Too or Apparently aren't even on it !
I can't seem to find the song, only the nice clip of H'n'H....would like to hear it if anyone better at this than me want's to help...HAVE searched SR's Youtube...

wants. Sorry, had wine! ;)
Do you mean the new song? It's in the seventh post down on page 1, courtesy of Fran.
It's reyt good, I'd say. Dare I say it has a kind of old school Pulp feel to it and that's no bad thing. It's a kind of HnH/WLL sound in my opinion and I likes it very much. Really hope he plays a few gigs to refine he songs even further.
I've tried to listen to it a number of times (not 29!) and i just don't find it particularly entertaining. I suppose in it's live setting, book club style with lounge piano it possibly works a bit better?
I want drums, bass, synths, guitars and stylophones.
Oh, and some singing.

Both are vastly different. I've seen him perform Room 29 in Paris and it was indeed a mix between songs and theatre, and it was truly a great performance. Chilly Gonzalez was also amazing.
The record to me is also special because i really like the piano / voice setting, bare to the minimum. I've said when it was released that i wished it had got the This is Hardcore treatment, but i disagree with myself now.
Jarvis voice coupled with the piano playing of Gonzalez is more than enough, both bring 50% to the tunes.
I've also always loved that 30s music style so i guess you gotta be into it to appreciate it. Their songwriting and ideas to make every song unique really stands out after a few more listens.

I think it's a brilliant record but it's not quite the same as a full on solo.
Indeed it's different and i really hope he will release another solo record this year, but i'm glad he tried that, i put Room 29 very high in my list of favorite albums ever.

I was kind of bracing myself for a lot of tuneless whispering and some 'Dad' (bad?) puns ahead of Room29's release, perhaps unfairly (kind of why I didn't listen to the Sunday Service that much) but I really loved the record. Stuff like Belle Boy is great fun and Tearjerker and Daddy... are some of the best things he's written in years. I think I probably prefer it to the solo albums but it will be nice to hear him with a full band again.
As for Room 29, I heard 2 or 3 songs from it when it was released & it didn't really appeal to me. In fact, I pretty much avoided it.
Of course, that might be because I found Gonzales so very irritating at the Eden Project years ago! (assuming it's the same guy...)
Given some of the comments here, I'll give it another chance (:
Thanks for the share. This completely passed me by! Interesting song & exciting prospect. Hey, whatever people's respective view of the post-Pulp work, it makes for an ace setlist nowadays. Especially if the odd Pulp track gets dropped in. Some of the stuff from Room 29 could work well adapted for guitar too.
Oooh, should we be getting ready for a tour...? I'm lucky, arriving at this thread so late - less time to be impatient...
