This song has never really done it for me. Whilst it's reasonable enough, this one fails to stand up as well as, say, "The Night" or "Morning Dew". I remember Jarvis once saying on stage (I can't remember where/when) something along the lines of "We don't usually play cover versions because they end up sounding shit", to an extent I would agree with him on this re "Little Girl"

Yes, cover versions aren't really their thing.
The song is ok i guess, but as you suggest, in comparison with the night or morning dew, it doesn't come out on top.
