I wonder is this (and the project he's doing with Chili Gonzales) an indication of the winding down of his career, from front/solo man to part-time songwriter for hire. I think it's what he envisaged doing post-Pulp after 2002 but within a few years he'd got the itch to do his own material again.
Maybe this type of stuff (didn't he express an interest in writing for Charlotte Church and the UK's Eurovision entry during the late 00's?) is all that's left? I hope not but sometimes second best is all you're gonna get.
The music that Jarvis Steve and Mark did for Wildside was actually circa 1999/2000. The original film was '95, then the Director's Cut (a complete re-working of the whole thing, including the soundtrack) was a few years later.
