Very interesting interview with our Webbo at a press conference for a Mexican screening of the film.
While we all know he's quietly-spoken and humble, he can also be a lot more direct and revealing than Jarvis.
Half of it is the interpreter translating (and, I have to say, a very good job she does too except for not being familiar with 'Bad Cover Version') but there's some great insight from Mark on certain matters - including why a full length release of the concert on film might not/did not happen and why he nearly refused to be in the film at all!
It's a nice change from the Jarvis and Florian-fest. Can you imagine at any time post-hiatus (or at any time really) even the notion that Mark Webber would hold court in a Mexican press room full of flashing cameras to talk about a Pulp film?! I doubt he could!
That was v interesting! Yes, the interpreter gave the impression that it was Little Girl that Jarvis didn't want to/couldn't sing at recent concerts - she didn't realise Mark had moved on to talk about Bad Cover Version. He is quite hard to understand even if you are English, though, cos he mumbles a bit . (But he is v nice.)
I like the bit about having to take the guitar down off the wall in order to sleep.
The most standout thing to me, in this era of tight media control of image, is someone going out of their way to answer all the questions, rather than parroting their media training course in total blandness with no regard to what they were actually asked.

The movie is great but I always think Mark has the unique perspective on it all.. because he was the fan who ended up being in the band. Kind of everyones dream!
Indeed...and maybe that's an angle that Florian should have explored a bit considering the theme of the fans thoughts on Pulp was central to the film. Maybe his Chesterfield roots discounted him!
