Just had a look on amazon and their listing for the film says it's region free.
That's a relief since I don't actually have a DVD player so much as a laptop and a playstation that both play them (no clue how to "hack" either of those)
what I STILL want to know is if it's going to air in Los Angeles theaters before August 2nd or if I'm never going to get to see it in theaters (which I'd really like to do)

apparently the disk 2 extras are "4 extra concert tracks, Saskia Cocker sings Something Changed, extended interviews with the band, more Sheffield scenes & a making of" (this might have already been mentioned actually the Saskia thing sounds familiar)
It seems to be just called "Pulp Special Edition" which would explain why I couldn't find "Life, Death and Supermarkets" when I looked before - I ended up ordering mine from Soda Pictures because of that, which was more expensive than this.

Most important question is: is the DVD playable in multiple regions/are blu rays region coded. I want to preorder it but not if I won't even be able to play it because it's UK region. God bless America etc etc. any other Americans on here asked about this yet? I guess I could find out from the vendor
It'd be rubbish if there's no US version released, I'm sure someone on here will upload an HD torrent of it for you though.
I really do hope this doesnt happen. Can't we support by making the purchase?
My thoughts exactly.
If they don't bother to release the dvd in other territories then why would it make any difference? They're not planning on making any sales in those areas, therefore they're not losing money if anyone from those territories torrents it. I always think if it's not commercially available then it's fair enough- certainly more practical than hacking a dvd player.
you may already have a hackable player.... if not they are pretty cheap these days

i have a phillips that has done the trick for decades
just realized I posted the wrong link. . . .after my wife just broke my dvd player today. lol
http://videohelp.com is the website that lists all the Hacks for dvd players
Had a look for Region 4 and Australia - we get the 1 disc DVD on Available Wednesday, 10 September 2014.
Think I can play OS DVDs so will still order the Soda DVD.
If anyone is interested.
I would think that this being such a 'large in demand' movie (sarcasm), that film distributors would not be running prints in various formats per region. It doesn't seem to me to make financial sense. I would think that the DVD will be region free, therefore available to all markets (once those markets get their release date) Distributors in the US, or Australia will state its not playable in their region for sales reasons. Or at least I hope, as I have ordered my copy already.
I like your thinking VoxPop. I just want the second disc!
PS. Peter O'Donoghue the editor and co-writer I keep seeing him in Sydney around where I live. I saw him a week or so ago coming out of the movies as I was going in and saw him on the train. If I see him again I'm going to have a chat!
what is the consensus, it is region free right? can another american confirm if they've bought it already? I'm saving money right now to move, but I'm planning on buying it once I've finished moving

I have just come across this article that seems pretty convincing that the DVD and Blu-ray are region 2, however you can download the film digitally via iTunes (there's a link in the article) if that's a problem - is that any good for you non-Europeans?
4 songs - I Spy, Mis-Shapes, Help the Aged and Sheffield Sex City. I Spy is cut with an interview with Liam moaning that Jarvis can't be persuaded to use a radio mic, so he has to untangle it all the time.
Saskia singing Something Changed
Interviews with each of the band separately.
A "making of" video with Florian, Jarvis and Alex Boden.
Extra bits of interviews from various people who are in the film.

I was wrong. They are not region free. The BlueRay is Region locked and the extras DVD is region 2.
