Just watched this again and it has made my day. Fantastic footage! I'd heard about it but never seen it. I love so many things about it, I could write paragraphs (but shan't bore you).
That is some fantastic footage indeed. Particularly Jarvis' stylophone-solo over the head in Space, á la Hendrix though I doubt Jimi could have rocked that poodle-jumper quite so well. Nice to see the the camera panning round to the audience a couple of times, gives a good glimpse into the fashion of the day as well as the sort of crowd sizes Pulp were playing to (not too shoddy - I think Nick made a comment in Truth and Beauty about this being the show where the band felt they were finally making headway with kids from back-arse of nowhere places taking an interest for the first time). My Legendary Girlfriend was probably the only song likely to be close to recognised, though its introduction doesn't seem to elicit many cheers. By the time they finish with a repeat of the then likely next single, Live On, Jarvis clearly looks chuffed with the reaction as he skips off the stage.
For amateur footage it's a lot better than I would have expected, probably helped by there being two(?) cameras between the audience and stage. A bit grainy as to be expected and that flashing strobe on-stage makes it a bit difficult at times to view though Jarvis and Russell do their best to cover it with their backsides.
It's quite odd that footage now exists from half the shows Pulp played in summer/early autumn 1991 - the Town and Country performance recorded by ITV at the time and the Leadmill show the day after this concert in Halifax featured on The Beat Is The Law DVD yet nothing at all exists from 1992 and little from 1993 in terms of live video recordings (not including video promos/backing-tracked tv appearances such as Lipgloss on The Word and the JMTV Rocks Irish TV show. Happy St Patty's Day by the way) There are a decent amount of audio recordings from 1992 and '93 of course but it would be great if footage from any of the OU/Babies/Razzmatazz/Lipgloss tours emerged.
Anyway, thanks a lot for the upload Mozart. You packed so much into your short life, I wouldn't have expected you to come back and frequent Pulp forums.
Haven't had a chance to watch this yet but had to post to agree with the absence of '92 (especially) and '93 footage. What is particularly confusing and intriguing is that a very short section of the band performing OU at the Sheffield Sound City gig in '93 appears on the Hits DVD and it looks pro too.

Quite agree, Eamonn. T'would be brill to see stuff from those missing years. I have always wondered why there is a big gap there.
You are right about Jarvis's 1991 wooly mammoth look. Quite daring for a such a slim-legged fellow but I'm fond of it.
And having Mozart on the PULP forum... as you say, we are honoured!

Many thanks eveyone, you're all very welcoming to new members. I'm also a member of a sisters of mercy forum and they're a right bunch of surly cunts. anyways, plenty of '91 material to get my teeth into, thank you for all the links. Agree about the lack of visuals from '92, maybe there is some bits out there that will appear one day? Wasn't it Richard (Banks) who filmed the Sheffield sound city '93 show at Webbers' request? Our Mark must have some special stuff in his archive.
Is the Sound City part on the DVD the bit where Jarvis seems to be swinging from the rafters (going from memory, not seen it in years)?
That's the one. There are some girders that run from one side of the stage to the other at the Leadmill, I'm pretty sure it's from the conclusion to OU.
Hello Mozart, I was very in your magic flute for last weeks.
Erm, its been blown for centuries maidMarian until eine kleine nachtmusik but it still works. When will they be making 'carry on Mozart?? Its a potential classic. Gary King/the Humans? Are you refering to the film Jarvgirlie or perhaps a popular beat combo from round your way?
I'm sorry Amadeus, but I don't understand, what you mean
"its been blown for centuries maidMarian until eine kleine nachtmusik but it still works. When will they be making 'carry on Mozart?"
Do you mean, that no one listen to your music anymore? That's not true. I love it. So, carry on Mozart!!! And if you have no idea: Listen to the birds in your garden and then do some Razzlmattaz!
Erm, that Halifax footage is fantastic isn't it? Much better quality than I'd expected - it's clearly a semi-pro job rather than just someone with a camcorder.
Jarvis seems a lot more at ease than in the Stage One footage from a month or two before, and they're barely recognisable the same band as the set of half-arsed amateurs on the New Sessions programme.
Not watched the whole thing yet, but best moments so far include the stylophone solo, Steve laughing at Russell when he messes up during Space, and Mark crouching down sipping from his pint stage right during the second song....
