If this is about new material (and not the PULP film?) I definitely think Jarv will be a bit f*cked off that's it's been announced on Twitter and not by the band.
Now this is exciting! Thought from time to time this year that they can't leave it at After You, and little nuggets of info about the film have been encouraging. As soon as Jarvis said he wouldn't be around next year, I thought, "here we go again, the occasionally infuriating rumours begin!"
I mean if it was legacy-related i.e. a remastering of WLL for a deluxe edition (as welcome as that would be) the guy would have been careful to state "RE-MASTER" right?
I'm only away for a day or so and this happens! Maybe I should go without visiting Bar Italia more often... ;) Very excited, though. Shall be informing friends tomorrow and doing over-excited flappy-hand gestures.
Okay, so I've done a tiny bit of sleuthing and have come up with something:
John Davis' page on Discogs (which he links to on his Twitter) lists him as being associated with Metropolis Mastering, who were also responsible for the mastering of the Disco 2000 single (according to their Discogs page and the page for the D2000 single). Now, I have no idea how accurate Discogs are, but I'd say for this case that it's accurate, plus John is listed as working for them on their website.
So that could very well be where they're doing the mastering.

He's not credited for any previous Pulp though. I'm feeling v pessimistic this morning.
I just saw the tweet and came on here to see if there was news about it (I've been a bit otherwise occupied the last week or two) and that was a very fast 5 second emotional rollercoaster from "Oh my god what if???" to "oh."

Well, that was a roller-coaster 5-minutes of blog reading! Keep the faith, people.
If there ever is a new Pulp album, would the selection of this guy to work on the film mastering (given his D2000 history) suggest their most disco-ey outing yet? Perhaps After You gestured thus. I always preferred the single version of D2000, especially with the strings and extra spoken interlude. Was he responsible for mixing Ansaphone too?

John Davis wasn't responsible for the D2000 single, just that it was done at Metropolis. I don't know who actually did the mastering for it, but I don't think Davis was working for Metropolis at the time.
