I like how quickly the thread has settled into admiration of Jarvis' fashion sense.

I have to confess, being an adolescent who can almost get away with it, I do often buy clothes that are very distinctly Jarvis-y. I've got two velvet jackets and a pair of brogues cos of him x)

Yes, I'm afraid I am one of those people who could talk about Jarvis's clothes all day. If I were him, I would have kept every single outfit. Probably catalogued, too!

Apart from the velvet suit, my favourite item of Jarv's 90's wardrobe is his black Playboy shirt. He looked godlike in it.

I like him in corduroy (anyone looks good in corduroy) and skeleton costumes, myself.

Amazing how good looking Steve Mackey was even with possibly the world's worst haircut (maybe after the horrible DC fringe)

I am very jammy, I've met Jarv (3x) Hawley, Nick, Steve and Candida.

Hawley gave me a proper hug, with the front of his jacket on my backless dress...

I'm not sure, there was only a short while between 2nd and 3rd times, at the 2nd we had a lovely chat about the Sheffield gig and he was lovely and honest and told me about how nervous he was, then he went to put his arm round me but ended up not doing, so I think the 3rd time he might've remembered, he was joking around and then put his arm around me so I'd like to think he remembered me.

I have experienced the Pointy Cocker Finger photo though!

I hardly spoke the first time, I told him we were going to the Sheffield gig and he said "oh yeah, we've just been rehearsing for that" which made the realisation that I was talking to JARVIS COCKER too much to deal with! We did end up in the paper together that time though! Haha.

The second time I made sure I'd had a drink first so I could get over his voice and I was brave enough to start a proper conversation with him, I asked him if he'd mind if I asked him a question about the Sheffield gig (he was signing the set list) then at the end he said "how was it for you anyway?" Which made me blush!

and the third time we had an ace few minutes.

Hoping there'll be a fourth time on Friday :)

He looked me in the eyes and said it without a hint of a smile! He knows what he's doing!

Barbican event "Bright Phoebus" with Hawley on Friday.

It's amazing how Smackey never seems to have a decent hairdo!

Oh, yes, the Playboy shirt with the black trousers (I think these were the ones he rescued from a skip) looked great.

I also love some of the retro shirts he used to wear, like the patterned one he wore at the No Stilettos show. It looks like an early '70s shirt to me - I had a dress in about 1972 with a v similar pattern on it

Wow, the skeleton costume is fantastic. And hilarious.

Corduroy is awesome, and I do like his brown jacket with really thick cord (see Johnathon Ross show WLL era).

also, and forgive me - slightly showing off here - his tweed dark blue jacket feels amazing on a bare back.

Yes, Jarve looked v cool at that interview in his second-hand clothes and made Jonathan Ross look tacky and tasteless. Understatement is all.

Re the tweed jacket - I can well imagine!

Slightly prickly and not as soft as Hawley's leather (I'm a lucky girl), but amazing all the same!

Aw Jarvgirl, you jammy get! I seem to be in a minority of people on this forum who haven't met/tried on the clothes of Pulp band members. This needs to be rectified at some point, methinks.

You've met Jarv three times? That's just greedy

That's a lovely photo, by the way. You sort of look like old friends. I'm a wee bit jealous (can you tell?).

Yeah, and it got better each time

Hawley completely took me by surprise with that, he was ACE. Almost (almost) beat Jarv putting his arm round me. (Sorry, I know I'm awful but I can't help it!)

Lucky sod. Did he recognise you?

Aw, that sounds brill. Yeah, don't often see any pics of Jarv with fans where he has his arm around them. Usually he's just pointing, or looking a bit surprised. Haha, you've every right to show off - people wouldn't hear the last of it if I met anyone from Pulp!

Wow. I dunno if I could manage to string enough words together to have an actual chat. I'd be all star-struck and nervous. If he did remember you, that was quite sweet of him.

Haha, it's like a rite of passage, getting a "Pointy Cocker Finger" photo x)

I'd have been a simpering mess, you did well to hold it together for that long!

Haha, did he give you a wry smile with his "how was it for you" line?

What's happening on Friday? I lose track of events that Pulp members are involved in.

Haha!

Ahh right. Sounds ace, that. Hope you have a pleasant evening (and maybe another memorable encounter) :)

Yes. I think Babies is THE song that will survive the test of time. On it's 50th birthday it will still sound as good as it did when it started life wrapped up in a black velvet suit.

Oh, that's lovely. I have only ever heard good reports about people meeting Richard Hawley.

That would be the perfect night out, wouldn't it - down the pub with Richard and Jarve!
