He has provided a score for a film about Sheffield to be shown at the upcoming, and world famous, Doc/Fest. It is called The Big Melt and Jarvis is credited as musical director, it also says that the film will be accompanied by a live soundtrack!
It'll be a reference to Sheffield's heavy industrial heritage in the steel industry as is the title of the Piece. A melt is when the ore is melted down in a crucible.
Cheers for this - had seen something about Jarvis at DocFest mentioned on Twitter but couldn't for the life of me find the listing, then forgot about it. Wonder who his 'guest musicians' will be.
That looks brilliant with or without Jarvis- I went to see some of the films on at the BFI's Steel Season a few months back and they were excellent. Wish I could make it up to Sheffield for this.
Indeed...and what other members of Pulp will be involved, I wonder? Would make a nice change if it was someone other than Steve (nowt against Smackey, just the others rarely collaborate with Jarvis outside of the group).
