I've always wanted to add to this thread. When I need something else to ruminate on I come back to this - what other songs sound like a Pulp song. I think i came close. The last song off David Bowie's I Cant Give Everything Away. Think its the keyboards.

Bit of a stretch this one but as they've just got back together and are also ignoring their really early stuff in the new shows... it's enough. Some proper "kitchen sink" lyrics here.
mmm..nos sure i know any song that sounds like "Slow Jam". Maybe the first verses with that bassline might make me think of some Leonard Cohen songs, but then song changes. It has a very particular structure.... Probably, the song that has grown more on me since first listenings. (I think now would be my personal top3 ot top4 from "More")
Here's another addition to my Pulp-ish playlist, from 2025. Mf Tomlinson was the leader of the (now extinct) band Many Things, who released an amazing pop album under a very strong Pulp influence. He's building an interesting solo career, an on this song i can find some influence from our fav guys in Sheffield, circa 2000.

Well ,if you have never heard Hamish Hawk before, and you are a fan of Mr. Coc*ker.... you might like this! ;P
(Just in case you don't know, in his brilliant song "The Mauritian Badminton Doubles Champion, 1973" he sings "To write a cathedral I need a ballpoint pen / It'll sound like 'Common People' sung by Christopher Wren"

Many Michael Jackson songs actually. They both use spoken words bits, both use "sexy" noise while singing, and both talk heavily about sex or love.
I've been listening to MJ discography back the last few weeks, and some songs could fit: Dangerous, Lady in My Life, She's Out Of My Life, Rock With You... etc
I'm pretty sure Jarvis ****er is a secret Michael Jackson fan. Or at least was before 1996.
THE DREAM SYNOPSIS - THE LAST SHADOW PUPPETS >>>> True ! One of my favorite song of the LSP. Two amazing records.

I had Sonauto generate this a few weeks ago, and .. honestly, "The Possibility" kinda scared the munkies out of me. (Lyrics my own. .. .. The rest .. is scary..)

OH, WOW, guess when i started this thread in 2013 couldn´t imagine this could even happen... so strange...and as you said, scary, somehow...
God, that is cheese but I think I can hear what you're saying. I wouldn't put it past the ****er to crib elements, he had form for taking the piss out of bad songs. She's Dead/Honey by Bobby Goldsboro and lyrically Don't You Want Me Anymore? and The Lady In Red.
