I'd rather not get bogged down in a discussion re. the pro's and con's of illegal/legal downloading but I for one would always pay for a song from a band that I was actively interested in. As a side not I absolutely hate downloading albums and had a truly horrific time trying to download something that I had paid for from bandcamp yesterday that led to me stomping around the house going 'I'm never going to pay to download another thing ever f'ing again!'.
Anecdote time: I downloaded The Loss Adjustor from iTunes and it automatically downloaded itself to my 11 year old sons iPod as well. That confused me for a while I can tell you.

Cool, but can't everyone still find it for free? Anyhow it probably solves the mystery of the Jonathan Ross Show. On a sort of related note I appear to have fucked up the Bad Cover Version wiki page - although I started out with th best of intentions - and don't know how to fix it. So there's a little job for someone...
...and presumably no physical release. Do physical releases still happen for singles? Sorry, been out of the uk most of the last decade, really not sure.
Excellent. Let's try and encourage everyone to buy it.
And if someone can help me work out how to buy something from itunes (I downloaded the software to try and get the Stones' single from last year - but failed) then that would be appreciated too!

But "due to considerable interest" from 28 January "After You" will be available to fans through iTunes
It doesn't really imply it is a proper bonafide single release. More akin to testing the water to see if anyone would pay for Pulp material. If they wanted a "hit", they shouldn't have given it away in the first place.
As for everyone being able to get it for free, I always find it odd that people pay for any downloads. Even without using torrents and such like, CDs are so cheap these days that it's cheaper to just rip the tracks than to pay for the downloads. I suppose with the likes of Apple and Amazon your music is always available should you lose it, but I can upload most of my stuff onto the amazon cloud, so not sure that even applies. Only time I ever paid for a download was when I accidentally got Firework by Katy Perry on my mobile.... Honest, it was an accident, though no one ever believes me.

I'd pay for the CD or the LP. Only stuff I download are bootlegs and freebies. The rest I tend to stream through spotify.
I hate downloading mainly because the quality is poorer than the rips I make and I hate tracks being arbitarily split. Much rather create my own music files.
I have started to put albums onto single files, as I have a track limit on my cloud storage, so I get 250 LPs rather than 250 tracks.
That said, I'm not paying for After You, I have it already.
Stephen wrote:ArrGee - if we all took that attitude, it'd have very few sales indeed and might make Pulp think again if they were considering more new stuff...?
If they put it out on vinyl, I'll buy it, but I'm not buying a download. And when it is out on the album, I'll probably buy both LP and CD (as I have for the last two Jarvis albums). But I'm not paying for something, I already have so it make a minor dent on the download charts and make Apple more profit. And as for Pulp's plans, I'm sure the sales of a previously free download will make no difference to them. They'll do what they want.
I'll just buy the Fire re-releases instead, even though I have the originals...
The news of this from the Independent quotes "due to popular demand" but I can't see a Pulp tweet about it.
Does anyone know what/where the full statement/press release is just in case more information was given (unlikely if the news reports haven't mentioned anything else)?
I think if it sells well this is very possible! Which means I'm enlisting someone to buy me one of course as the liklihood of it showing up over here is slim (though I am near the big Amoeba hub so it's possible)
Anyone know if this is just UK iTunes or if it'll be available on US as well?

Hmm, I don't like the artwork much! Though it's good to see the brush-version of the logo coming into use, after appearing on the reunion merchandise!
I'll definitely buy the iTunes version, even though I was up early on Christmas morning to download the free version. I want Pulp to know its appreciated!
