Hi Stephen, i have a question for our Nick, well its kind of a menage et trois. Are there any songs down the years you particularly always enjoyed playing? Also, are there any that you dont enjoy playing and lastly any songs that you would like to play? happy new year and regards.
He very kindly did the same for me years ago. I have since lost the email but it was a good read. From what I can remember:
He said that if he was "in charge" of Pulp, all songs would be 3:30 in length He would provide vocals if he got the chance because he likes singing hymns at church He also talked about the writing and recording process but I can't really remember much of what he said
I can't think of any questions this time but if I do I'll let you know. Hope it goes well and he's certainly a sound guy
What other songs did he have a hand in writing a la Babies? And how does it feel to have been responsible for one of their greatest tunes. What is his opinion of Magnus's drumming?
A bit boring, but of all the locations Pulp played over the last 18 months, which one was his favourite (aside from Sheffield of course). and is there anywhere he would still like to play? Has his relationship with the other members of the band changed since the reunion?
Uhn, this is a bit complicated... Well, I will make a question with a comment!
I was on the only gig that you made in Brazil, a lot of fans waited in front of Via Funchal since 4 p.m. to watch you closest as possible (And I was there too, waiting in the row!). And you create a kind of atmosphere between the people that are there to watch you, we were talking about the expectations, creating new friends and it became an fantastic experience.!
That's ok!
> The question: Which had been your impressions about the concert in Brazil? > "After You" create a new space for Pulp fans, and people that doesn't know your work started listening this new track too. That new instant success with "After You" can bring Pulp back with a new tour or an other new song?

If I could ask Nick Banks something I'd probably go with, If he could describe the very first rehearsal with all the members before saying Yay or Nay to the comeback shows - I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall. I imagine alot of laughter and screwing up of faces.
Cant wait to read his responses to the chosen questions!
When it came to getting autographs, Nick was generally the most accommodating though none of the others seemed to have a problem. Apparently, Jarvis' face was a picture when he got asked to sign my "Master of the Universe" 12"...
Oh and Candida was more than happy to sign some flyers outside of Auto; "Taxi for Doyle!"

Ian, those answers sound fascinating! Can you dig them out from wherever they lie?
They were, but unfortunately the email was lost years ago. I also have a vague recollection of him mentioning that he liked a lot of "Separations"-era Pulp.
What was the feeling like on stage when you played La Bikini the first night of the reunion? Did the making of After You give the impression that you were comfortable with making more songs?
It's great that Nick is so accommodating. He gave a lot of material for Mark's book; some really good anecdotes and comments.
Are none of the others as forthcoming (Russell has been, with Stephen and Mark at various points, I guess)? Steve and Jarvis I can see being removed from this type of thing, understandably I guess in Jarvis' case given the regular media requests he gets for interviews. What about Webbo and Candida? Mark did speak with Mark just before the comeback started, maybe he'd be open to this now that he has "come to terms with Pulp" :)
Maybe they would be more forthcoming, but it's a matter of how to contact them. Russell (when dealing with his musical) was accessible. And I just took a gamble on Nick being able to pick up email for Banks' Pottery!
I know Candida is (was?) on Facebook, but that feels a little like disturbing someone's privacy...
1) Do Pulp have any plans to release / encourage the label to put out a deluxe edition of We Love Life given how much the other editions, with all their unreleased tracks, were appreciated by fans?
2) Are there are plans to reissue the latter albums on vinyl? Ebay prices are crazy.

Not a question for Nick, but
You guys should really check discogs if you're interested in Pulp vinyl. A lot of it is still expensive but it's SO much cheaper than on Ebay or Amazon and there's generally a better selection. (I feel like I never shut up about discogs but seriously it's a much better deal than Ebay) Plus you can add albums to your wantlist and get e-mails when new ones go for sale so if a cheap one comes up you can get it right away. Also no bidding system (though you can bargain with the seller) so no obnoxious last minute bidders stealing your original pressing of Separations that you've been bidding on for a week straight in the last 30 seconds of an auction (I'm not bitter)
