Violin Thing, sounds like the time I packed half a dozen ties to take to Glastonbury with me, but forgot to pack any t-shirts.

For the clutching at straws brigade, he also said this was Pulp's last shows of the year. Let's hope they enjoy it like they seem to have enjoyed the rest of the reunion shows - Candida is certainly entering into the spirit.

I was quite amused by this observation in the previous article - is this what cruise holidays are all about? Just like following the hordes to Greece, from Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads * ...

"When Cocker sang the hook of "Common People," with its bleak invitation to dance, drink and have sex "because there's nothing else to do," here it felt more like a rallying cry than a line of desperation. "

Yay!

If you think about it, they never said bye or owt at Sheffield unlike at Magna when it was all, "we're going away for a while"

On another note, http://www.spin.com/articles/ss-coachella-cruise-pulp-throws-grapes-black-lips-champion-shrimp?utm_source=spintwitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=spintwitter

They definitely played 'Underwear', TIH and Common People...but they're all A-Team anyway, funny to think of you getting out of a life to find Pulp amassed waiting to go on though.

I agree with you completely Eamonn, just clutching at straws really. How they choose their setlist is a mystery to me and it make me pull my hair out just thinking about it to be honest. Just had a quick look and we had 10 songs from DC, 4 from TIH and only 1 genuine HnH song in the setlist and according to the current Pulpwiki poll HnH is the most popular album amongst voters.

No Disco 2000? That's odd, would surely be one of the first times it has been omitted since the reunion?

Interesting...far more HnH-heavy than the arena show. How come?

If they do release the Sheffield show on DVD I suppose it has to appeal to a general market as well who might only own DC. Think to yourself, which songs could they have dropped from Sheffield to include HnH, Pink Glove and Joyriders (though I dislike that so I'm glad they didn't play it). You soon realise it becomes hard to imagine what they could have dropped in favour the HnH material.

Agreed on the argument for the large presence of Different Class.
But I imagine any HnH song would have been recognised more than the time-machine trio, Born To Cry, and most likely S:SC and Like A Friend (although I'm glad they played all those).
And Lipgloss and to a lesser extent Joyriders/Acrylic/Pink Glove (due to them not being singles) would have been received as well if not better than Party Hard and A Little Soul, I reckon.
They did a commendable job in varying the set but I definitely would have had Lipgloss and Bad Cover Version for one less DC and TIH song.

Yeah...it was a fantastic night and we certainly got our money's worth but were it not for the curfew they would have been happy - and physically able, judging by Jarvis at least still being full of beans at the end, to have continued for another half an hour or so. A little annoying especially when reading just now about The Prodigy playing Brixton last night with a 3am curfew.

I'm still a bit baffled by some of the choices for Sheffield as well, but feel bad for complaining! I really wanted more His N Hers and I'm gutted I still haven't heard OU live, though I suppose there was a fair bit of that album at Glasto.

Ha, ha, well put I know exactly what you mean. It does seem rather churlish to complain about a 24 song setlist but well, here we are!

At Sheffield they were supposed to come on at 20.15 but instead came on at 20.30

I wondered if they delayed coming on as so many poeple were still flooding in at 8:15, presumably big queues outside?? The laser thingy seemed to go round again on a loop repeating itself by then. I was worried at 11 that some jobsworth might just turn the sound off like some of those Hyde Park things earlier in the year, luckily they weren't quite so petty.

That's true, although Liam coming on to tell Jarvis of the pending curfew before ten to eleven was a sign that the end was nigh.
They went 10 minutes over, just wondering if they had already broken the curfew is ten minutes the same as half an hour? I dunno.

I was so relieved when they carried on over the curfew. I was anxious for Something Changed as we had it at our wedding and the birth of my daughter, and we also love White Christmas, so we couldn't ask for a better ending!

If they did come on at 8.30 at Sheffield then that was bang on as I'm sure the final times given said the countdown to Pulp began at 8.15 with the band on 15 mins later. When we arrived at 7.30 there were no queues to get in at all from our entrance, and I couldn't believe how empty the arena seemed, was all the queuing at the other doors?

No you're eyes were not deceiving you. At one point I thought the arena was actually going to be two thirds empty. There was a block of seats bottom stage left that was almost entirely empty just a few minutes before showtime!
