arghggh! amazing. I think it's the demo though. so what would people rather have - deluxe we love life or another year of gigs. . .
happy Christmas! best stop jumping about and dancing and take notice of the boyfriend xx
Like most other folks on here I've had this demo since that mental person came on the forum and uploaded it, and I've always thought it was a lost classic, but this version is EVERYTHING that track could have been and MORE. It is fucking incredible.
The question is, is it a re-recording or a completed, non-demo version intended for We Love Life? My money is on a complete re-recording, as Jarvis is definitely singing in his more aggressive current singing style, rather than that more gentle texture he was going for in 2001. Also, this is far more disco leaning than anything they were doing back then, and I'm SURE I can hear a Stylophone in the background (which they were definitely not using ten years ago).
Also, the tempo of the demo version is slightly slower than this one, so it's likely that it's a re-recording rather than a remix.
Maybe he just stuck to the majority of the original lyrics? And yes........MAJOR stylophone in there - its just, omg - fucking amazing. There has GOT to be more. I was always sceptical about there being "downloads" of the Sheffield gig - I mean what would be the point when there is a DVD on the way? Rerecordings, DVD, what else is next......
It's chunky and lovely with what sounds like some nice mellotron going on as well. Gosh, it truly is a Christmas present worth getting. God, the last couple of minutes are fxxxxxg awesome.

hehe. well isn't that a treat ! we were a few hoping for re-recording of that song and others from that time (It's clearly a NEW recording) and here it is.
After one listen, it sounds a bit rushed production wise, but i'm sure it'll pass and i'll end up loving it from start to end. First new Pulp material in 11 years, can't complain ! Now here's hoping they also revisited Cuckoo and other songs, along with some new ones maybe ?! I'm pretty confident now there's more to come. they cant do that and leave us now, can they ?
Thanx Jazza and Weed for the upload. much appreciated.
Could anyone do a screenshot of the site as well if that's not asking too much ?

All those quotes about no new material etc... I guess he never said they wouldn't re-record old material did he? Might be worth keeping a eye on their twitter, they've posted last two New Years in a row

Oh man! Suuuurely there's a new album release (of some sort) on the horizon? And what better link between old & new than re-recording unreleased material... it's a way of being authentic to what they were and growing with the passage of time.
This'd be a hell of a second track, following on from Got to have Love... My Body May Die could live happily alongside this stuff too.
Does the fact they never slipped this track onto one of their recent setlists tell us something?

Do people reckon there's any chance that it's an old demo? There must be a couple of versions of it in the vauts.
To me Jarvis vocal doesn't sound like his voice did in 99/00 but more like his recent vocal style. I could be wrong but that's how I'm hearing it.
Definitely, this voice matches his current age. Plus Pulp didnt produce songs that way back then. Sonically i was very surprised because it doesnt sound like anything they have done before. the bass drums and the keyboards especially. I have monitoring headphones (the ones that separate clearly every instruments and tracks, for mixing) and it sounds like a very elaborate demo, but i wouldnt put my money on it being a finished track. The drums sounds like a drum machine to me, but i could be wrong...

That's "new material" if ever I've heard it & judging by the site page there is more to come! It's an old unreleased song that perhaps they thought we knew nothing about rehashed & re-recorded, This is the most excited I have been since I heard news of the reunion! Fucking awesome!

I haven't heard it yet (saving it for Christmas day) but from what you all say it sounds like it's amazing - Hopefully there will be more to come but I think the 'download all tracks' is for other artists using the same program who upload several tracks
It's like a new song - but I already know all the words! I've decided it's a new recording. The production sounds like they have done it themselves. Simple & straight to the point. I love it!
