There are quite a few moaners on the Pulp facebook page to the extent that it even prompted a response from the people who run the page along the lines 'it was only open 24hrs' so I don't think the band think that no one cares. I wonder how many people actually downloaded the track in that one day?
I hope they didn't think my comment - the one that prompted the response was moany. I thought I was quite nice, and I even thanked them for responding!
And he didn't read our my email with a description of the Sheffield show asking him to play it. Oh well, seems like there were enough other people also asking the same thing.

Here you can vote "After you" to be TOP 1 of the week, on probably the most important website of indie music in spanish!: (just enter the website and go down at the right)
Was the song announced as a rarity or as 'new material' on 6?

As far as I remember, both Nemone and Tom Robinson recounted the story about the Christmas cards and the download, mentioned that it had been produced by James Murphy i.e. very recently and just described it as a new track, I don't think I remember any reference to it being an older song. They both managed to sound pretty enthusiastic about it.

Nemon'e just started her programme and announced the highllights we are to look forward to in the rest of the show, includes After You, so she wasn't just playing it as a one-off novelty.

It being played on 6music is not so surprising given the combination of the station being one of the few which is filled with songs outside the charts and the fact that Jarvis works there so his dj mates are going to show a natural interest. And of course its Pulps first recording in a decade. Hearing it on Zane Lowe or even XFM would be more impressive though.
I was only asking because a FLAC version would give rise to the idea that a CD version exists.... it was playing on Australian Radio a few times this week. Triple J + fBi which was just the weirdest thing. I turned it up at work...
RE The Think Tank. My friend used to work there... The question has been asked! Awaiting a response... Will message ppl if I get any substancial news as dont wanna ruin the bands cruel tricks!
Just in case there was ever any doubt, I can confirm that when played in a disco environment, After You is a grade A banger (you have to watch the fade-in at the start mind).

Don't Falter I presume? How did you sequence it? I suppose anything you play after a hat-trick of floor fillers would automatically keep people up dancing as long as it had a good beat, but if it actually got people up following a 'dead' song, then that'd be quite some achievement!
It was the first song of my set - the person before had just played Istanbul by They Might Be Giants. People were on the dancefloor and they stayed there, gathering in enthusiasm if anything!
Any likelihood of seeing you at a DF some time this year?

I'd very much like to think we'll be able to get to DF at some point in the year. Leeds is just less useful than Liverpool/Hull type places in that there are a noticeable shortage of our parents around in order to help with babysitting duties! We aim to start going to gigs again around March though, so sometime after that if things go well!
It went down very well with unanimous praise - 8/10, 9/10 and 8/10! They joked that it was written in their contracts to like it. Mark Thomas thought it was very real and subversive whilst still being fun.
It may even beat Bowie to track of the week!
Simply great to be listening to a new Pulp song being reviewed on the radio!

Great! Not that bad for a song written such a long time ago. I guess it says a lot about the quality in Pulps music.
It intrigues me what an ENTIRELY new Pulp track would sound like. I mean, would it be as good as the re-recording of After You? It'd be interesting to find out for sure.
Just returned from three weeks' holiday in the wilds of south-west China and have only just been able to hear this. What can I say? Great song, great production, what a treat!
I can't stop listening to it, it's so good. I'm praying that they do some more, everything about that song is class. Maybe they are testing the water to see what the reaction to it is
So they go to the length of getting a producer for the sakes of one song ? I dont think so.
Well they knew they would be seeing him on the cruise, so a day or two with them all in a studio beforehand, and then tidying it up on the high seas, why not? Murphy's got a lot of things on the go, apparently doing the next Arcade Fire record and so on, so a short, fun project might have suited all parties.
