Well, we have our download codes, so what's going to be on the website on that day?

When I went to the address given on my phone, it said MP3 Downloads Coming Soon, so I'm guessing they're MP3s of the gig and maybe a date for the release of a DVD.

I don't think that they would be allowed to give out films or recordings of the concert because nobody would buy the dvd (and could they really put together a film in 2 weeks considering they haven't even got a title yet?)

I thought it might be what was been shown on the screens at the side. That way most of it would have been edited live.

No the DVD will come out some time next year I bet, but it could be a chance to pre-order it at a discount price or something along those lines.

interesting - Is it because they realised it was too much of a clue or because it's not actually mp3s?

I reckon it's the former probably unfortunately! I did wonder why they'd go and spoil the surprise like that!

yeah agree with the mp3 thing but the dvd out in two weeks? No, thats why i said 'pre-order.'

Also Jarvis didnt mention being filmed for a dvd did he, and im pretty sure he does in 'feeling called live' show and 'the park is mine' (the latter im not 100%) - so that makes me think that it is atleast part of the suprise.

Actually, liltman raises and interesting point. Since the band aren't signed to a record company who financed the filming and who would be releasing it?

I'm assuming the band will have had more than enough cash through just touring to fund the making and release of a film. Or maybe they're putting it out through Rough Trade and they've financed it?

You know I've been to two other gigs that were filmed; the Sheffield '95 gig for No Sleep Til Sheffield and a Morrissey gig that was released on video as well and I don't remember cameras at either of those gigs but they were clearly filmed by somebody. In my opinion it's just not something you notice if they don't get in your way.

Well there were pieces of paper taped up all over the venue saying 'this event is being recorded' etc. I'm surprised people didn't see those!

They were creeping around on the stage a lot to make sure they got lots of the band and not just Jarvis so they were definitely trying to get a whole band perspective for a recording.

Yeah I was stood pretty close under them! It's just I remember the screens at Wireless as well but no footage has ever come out of that. In fact, I wonder if that and some other footage could end up on this DVD?

There were camera people at both sides of the stage; plenty of close-ups of Mark, Candida and Nick. Looked cool on the big screens at the side of the stage in monochrome though at times the picture was static or flickered. I hope they don't take out (m)any of the songs for the DVD. Help The Aged was great despite the mid-song fumble and ditto Party Hard despite the false start.

I believe Jarvis was shouting 'hard' repeatedly, not 'Mark'!

Re: Reading, that footage belongs to the BBC and if any appears on a DVD, the band would have to contact and possibly pay the BBC for it. Something similar happened with Muse's Absolution Tour, the BBC wouldn't release the footage of Citizen Erased and Stockholm Syndrome from Glastonbury to the band, and thus both tracks were left out of the gig video (however, a different performance of Stockholm was put in the extras)

Well, for a kickoff the rights to inlcude White Christmas in the DVD would be an interesting thing and also Jarvis fell over during one song. It was towards the end of the gig but I can't remember which song it was.

Was that in FEELING CALLED LOVE when he was lying down singing 'And they make me have to sit down and catch my breath' and then when it came to the chorus he (ungracefully) rolled off the speakers

No he was coming back down from the raised bit where the big drum is stumbled a bit then fell headlong next to the two monitors he stands on. That Liam bloke ran straight out to pick him up.

The fall was during Common People...

I think he also made an error (or nearly did) on Monday Morning (not stomach in, chest out) and had to quickly check the words at the front of the stage. It was early on.

Yeah he said the "On your marks..but first stomach in, chest out" - I don't think he had to check the lyrics he just realised he was getting ahead of himself. Anyway I quite like it when there are little slip ups like that - It the gig more unique

It is still linking to a MP3 site.  If you enter the link "http://pulpxmasgift.co.uk/" it will redirct you to the main page, but if you add "/ followed by anything, still shows music downloads. So its safe to say it is a MP3 download.

Whatever it is it's a pretty lovely gesture in my opinion. As someone mentioned in another thread Pulp have undertaken this two year reunion without trying to flog any product apart from themselves (unlike Blur) and what do they do to cap it all off; they give us a free gift! They've always been a band that likes to give something back. Even if it does turn out to be a glorified rpomotion for a live DVD.

It is DEFINATELY NOT the demo, its a complete re record. FUCKING AMAZING - its extended from the original too......... Why the fucking hell would they rerecord an old demo, for the sakes of just throwing it out as a random mp3 online. It makes no sense..........but it points to one thing now for certain to me

This sounds so very very new to me. It's fucking... wonderful. Can't say anything else. It's stripped down, but more built up, clearer, far more confident, more electronic.

Sorry, I'm waffling shit. This is awesome.

I really, REALLY don't wanna say it. I'll look ignorant, but reminds me of if "After you" was produced at the same time as Futher Complications... but with so much texture that (I thought) was missing from F.C. that Pulp doesso brilliantly...

And yes, I'm quite very very tipsy. Happy xmas, chaps <3

that certainly sounds like a new version. If they do record new songs, they would have to go down this more 'pop' sound to appeal to the masses.

it sounds great though!

Like most other folks on here I've had this demo since that mental person came on the forum and uploaded it, and I've always thought it was a lost classic, but this version is EVERYTHING that track could have been and MORE. It is fucking incredible.

The question is, is it a re-recording or a completed, non-demo version intended for We Love Life? My money is on a complete re-recording, as Jarvis is definitely singing in his more aggressive current singing style, rather than that more gentle texture he was going for in 2001. Also, this is far more disco leaning than anything they were doing back then, and I'm SURE I can hear a Stylophone in the background (which they were definitely not using ten years ago).

Also, the tempo of the demo version is slightly slower than this one, so it's likely that it's a re-recording rather than a remix.

HOWEVER- Jarvis still sings Safeways, which hasn't existed for years. He could have easily sung Sainsburys (or Waitrose if he was feeling posh)

Maybe he just stuck to the majority of the original lyrics? And yes........MAJOR stylophone in there - its just, omg - fucking amazing. There has GOT to be more. I was always sceptical about there being "downloads" of the Sheffield gig - I mean what would be the point when there is a DVD on the way? Rerecordings, DVD, what else is next......

It's chunky and lovely with what sounds like some nice mellotron going on as well. Gosh, it truly is a Christmas present worth getting. God, the last couple of minutes are fxxxxxg awesome.

I think it is a new version. There are some BVs on the opening - which I think might be the Boxettes

That could be the solving of the Boxettes tweets then!

hehe. well isn't that a treat ! we were a few hoping for re-recording of that song and others from that time (It's clearly a NEW recording) and here it is.

After one listen, it sounds a bit rushed production wise, but i'm sure it'll pass and i'll end up loving it from start to end. First new Pulp material in 11 years, can't complain ! Now here's hoping they also revisited Cuckoo and other songs, along with some new ones maybe ?! I'm pretty confident now there's more to come. they cant do that and leave us now, can they ?

Thanx Jazza and Weed for the upload. much appreciated.

Could anyone do a screenshot of the site as well if that's not asking too much ?

All those quotes about no new material etc... I guess he never said they wouldn't re-record old material did he? Might be worth keeping a eye on their twitter, they've posted last two New Years in a row

Oh man! Suuuurely there's a new album release (of some sort) on the horizon? And what better link between old & new than re-recording unreleased material... it's a way of being authentic to what they were and growing with the passage of time.

This'd be a hell of a second track, following on from Got to have Love... My Body May Die could live happily alongside this stuff too.

Does the fact they never slipped this track onto one of their recent setlists tell us something?

How very Pulp, to leave people in doubt as to whether they've been back in the studio or not! Happy Christmas everyone!

I reckon there might be more too!...

note 'tracks'

How many times may I download my tracks?

And the page layout clearly shows room for more under 'After You'

Do people reckon there's any chance that it's an old demo? There must be a couple of versions of it in the vauts.

To me Jarvis vocal doesn't sound like his voice did in 99/00 but more like his recent vocal style. I could be wrong but that's how I'm hearing it.

Definitely, this voice matches his current age. Plus Pulp didnt produce songs that way back then. Sonically i was very surprised because it doesnt sound like anything they have done before. the bass drums and the keyboards especially. I have monitoring headphones (the ones that separate clearly every instruments and tracks, for mixing) and it sounds like a very elaborate demo, but i wouldnt put my money on it being a finished track. The drums sounds like a drum machine to me, but i could be wrong...

That's "new material" if ever I've heard it & judging by the site page there is more to come! It's an old unreleased song that perhaps they thought we knew nothing about rehashed & re-recorded, This is the most excited I have been since I heard news of the reunion! Fucking awesome!

For anyone without a postcard: http://www.mediafire.com/?j1d9z4suw75z3te

I haven't heard it yet (saving it for Christmas day) but from what you all say it sounds like it's amazing - Hopefully there will be more to come but I think the 'download all tracks' is for other artists using the same program who upload several tracks

Merry Christmas!

It's like a new song - but I already know all the words! I've decided it's a new recording. The production sounds like they have done it themselves. Simple & straight to the point. I love it!

On my 4th listen!
