Brilliant idea! There's lots of online services that will print cards - I'm sure you've heard the annoying Moon Pig and Funky pigeon jingles. My personal favorite online printer is moo.com but they only sell packs of 25 cards at the very least.
Rough Trade does seem the best way of getting it to them. If not we could probably post it to Jarvis at the BBC and ask him to pass it on to the others.

Yeah, I'll collect them! My email is laurenrebeccaharrison @ gmail.com. My days off are Mondays and Thursdays so don't panic if I don't reply until then.
It'd be pretty cool if someone could think of one of those cheesy little poems you get in cards. Someone funnier and wittier than me!

Um, I just interpreted photos as the photos they're going to take at bar italia. But maybe everyone could send in a photo of them self and the back could be a photo collage, you know like when they have all the tiny little photos make up a massive photo? What could the massive photo be though? And we might be best taking two photos or so each or adding the odd random Pulp one in there since there's not exactly a lot of us :P
Also someone else would probably be best getting it printed since trips to the post office are a fortnightly thing for me. If someone wants to do that and looks into where they're going to get it printed then I can design the card around the specifications.
Since we're recreating the common people photo I was thinking a different class vibe, with the front of the card black with a curved border around the photo, if what I'm describing makes any sense. I could try and figure out how to create the Pulp logo from that era but make it say "Bar Italia" - not promising anything though, logo design isn't my forte!

Fair enough - That makes more sense, I was just getting confused
If you want I could have a bash at the 'Bar Italia' in the Different Class font - I quite enjoy doing that sort of thing (plus it'll give me something to do!)

Might I also suggest that everyone in the picture at Bar Italia has some form of Pulp represented on them? E.g. a t-shirt or something. Co-ordinate guys! For example, I have a His N Hers shirt, so if someone has a shirt with a different cover, they should wear that? Sort of have it in order, His N Hers, Common People, DC and TIH? Something like that anyway.

Just a thought, but when somebody sends you a Christmas card is it not rude to not send one back? We should knock our heads together here & work out how to send them a nice card with all of our names on it (possibly with a present?)
We can send something to Rough Trade I suppose? Are there any geeks here know how we could do this over the internet & made something nice (hopefully physical that we can send via post?)
Hmmm... about if a group of 4 / 5 of us who are based in London go down to Bar Italia one weekend, and recreate the Common People single cover but in Bar Italia!!! We'd proabaly need to make a reservation for the window seats.
Or alternatively photoshop the band into Bar Italia to achieve the same thing.
If we go with the first option then everyone else's images can be included inside or on the back :P.
I'm really digging the top sentence... if I'm allowed to dig my own idea :)
I'd love to do this as well. If you send it to Jarvis' sunday service address I know it will get to him, not sure how likely it is he looks at everything he gets, but I sent him and Steve scarves that way and they got them.

Love the recreation of the Common People cover idea! I'm well up for that! Perhaps photoshop the cardboard cut outs of the band from DC into the background too...

Lets do it then!! :)
Anyone free in London Sunday afternoon for this shoot? I think if we had 1 girl and 4 guys that would be perfect but sure we can bend the rules if needs be :p. (im one guy, so thats one!). And if any of you have horn-rimmed specs, perfect!!
I can speak to Bar Italia tomorrow to reserve the seats.
We also need someone with a good camera in addition...
And finally someone good at photoshop to do the creating...
Im happy to collect the photos and peoples names and usernames. So if you wish to be included but not on the cover please message me and Il give you my email.
I wouldn't mind doing the photoshoping and such. I am a graphic designer after all :P If everyone could scan their signature I could piece them all together to look like we'd all signed the card.
12.30pm good?
Lauren thanks for offering... That would be great, do you wanna collect the photos and names off ppl with the e-sigs? else Ill just be forwarding everything!
Sorry about not having paras... Its cos my mobiles not allowing them!
That'd be great Jazza! Re: the photos I'd think it'd be really cool if we somehow could get everyone involved. My photo collage suggestion is all I can think of so if any one else can thin of something speak up :)
Great! If everyone could try and email me a photo and their signature by Thursday then I can piece the front and back together that day and have Monday to do the front. My email is laurenrebeccaharrison @ gmail.com. If you can't do it by then let me know and I can leave a blank spot for you. By the weekend would be ideal.

I haven't got a scanner sadly. :( But I can certainly supply a piccie of me wearing a pulp badge, never really been one for band t-shirts.
Lauren you should try and disguise your email address leave spaces or replace the @ the 'at' or you'll get spammed to death once a bot latches onto it.
-- Edited by saw119 on Monday 10th of December 2012 11:04:45 AM
If you haven't got a scanner can you take a photo of your signature? Don't worry if it's rubbish quality, as long as it's high enough contrast I can neaten it up.
I already get nothing but spam :P But thanks, I'll edit it my posts.

Altho I missed the gig, I'm definitely up for the photo montage! I can offer either V96 t-shirt (that's older than some of you, right?) or the Dec '98 tour one.
Ruby send them to me at laurenrebeccaharrison @ gmail.com. By Thursday is ideal but if you can't do that try to do it this weekend, I'll make sure there's a spot for you :)
I feel a bit like I'm checking back up on this too much... I'll stop taking over now!

I'm so happy that my silly idea has gone down so well! Yes... Some of us aren't anywhere near London so need the opportunity of being able to send a photo + signature to an email. thanks Lauren for volunteering your own (you do know we have several yahoo accounts we could have sent them to?!)
Right, so if we all send a picture to Lauren, perhaps holding up a 'Babies' style message if you like (there can't be enough room for everyone together too personal, so 2 words is enough!)
Then can we think of a group effort message to put in the card? Please don't let this get complicated. Keep it simple & I think it'll be a really nice thing!
I know we have the yahoo accounts but if I'm going to be putting it together in photoshop then you might as well just send it to my email :) If people are wanting to leave their own messages we could probably fit one or two words with each signature.
Anyone volunteering to get it printed and post it?
If anyone's in touch with members who haven't been on in a while give them a nudge. It'd be a shame for them not to be a part of this just because they didn't visit here this week.
this is a wonderful idea! when is the deadline to send a signature and picture and where am i to send it? (sorry if this was spelled out earlier...i'm sleep deprived after all that!)

No, no, no take control, it's the best way to get it done.
Hi all. If people could leave one word messages below with 'Saturday' or 'Sunday' (early afternoon) IF YOU WANNA MAKE BAR ITALIA photo that would be useful to see which is the best to choose. Deadline for this part is Wednesday at 12. Ill start...
Being a great idea, hope it works. Might it be easier to have a 'template' that everyone needs to use for the photo and signature. That way, there would be less editing involved since they will all be the same?
I've never been one for band merch either, I realised last week when Steve Lamacq was doing his annual t-shirt day thing that I don't think I have ever owned any kind of band t-shirt. I was briefly tempted by one of the Sheffield Sex City ones on the way out on Saturday but my husband was quite rightly making a focussed dash for the tram station which was a good thing judging by some of the tales I have seen here from others. I do have a Sheffield Museums one I bought in the Graves Gallery on Saturday (this design but in a t-shirt http://shop.museums-sheffield.org.uk/collections/sheffield-our-city/products/sheffield-a-city-of-rivers-trees-and-hills-tote-bag). I have a copy of Mother, Brother, Lover I could hold. All my Pulp music is on iTunes, I am one of those Philistines that goes for accessibility over romance!
On a geeky note, my scanner is wanting to produce pdf files, though I have found a setting to make it produce jpegs, tiffs and so on, any preference Lauren? I hope your sister wasn't too freaked out by a random stranger stopping her on the tram on Saturday - you did say to look out for two red-headed sisters!

Didn't Jarvis move recently anyway?... Also the Sunday Service will be finishing for the year soon so if it was sent there he may not get it until the new year. How do those of us outside the UK get involved in this? Its a cool idea :)
Seems like you could do the same as me, I don't live in London but will be emailing Lauren a piccie and a signature to include in the card. If they/he gets it after Christmas it doesn't really matter as it's the thought that counts. So don't forget to add Happy New Year or something similar.
Hi Dixie, thanks for your kind message we all had a truly fantastic night,i am afraid though that despite your kind thought of sending the band crimbo cards i doubt they will get them as they are away in the caribbean on the Coachella cruise concerts they don't fly back till i think christmas eve,but i will pass on your regards never the less.....best wishes
I'm wearing my sheffield sex city shirt in my new photo :D
Fran I'd already told my sister I'd be looking out for people. She's on about five different forums for other bands and has met some of her best friends that way so she understands :D It did surprise me you recognised me though, my description was terrible!
A template for the photos/signatures wouldn't make much difference because either way they'll need resizing. The best thing you can do for the photos is take a high as resolution as possible. For the signatures just try to make them as high contrast as possible - black ink on plain white paper is best. A jpeg is the best format but anything will do - I can certainly work with a PDF :) I'll be able to get on my email in about an hour so I'll reply to you all then.
If it arrives late like people have said, it's the thought that counts. Besides, Pulp aren't exactly great at time management themselves!
All that really needs deciding now is the greeting in the card - can anyone thing of anything? And are we addressing it to "Pulp" or "Jarvis, Candida, etc, etc"? If it's the later are we including Leo, Jean and Richard?
Leo has been on nearly every gig this tour though. IDK, it just seems like if we're thanking them for the reunion and everything it'd be nice to include him? I don't know how many shows Jean has done though.
yes, i agree that leo should be included.
...and speaking of leo, i may or may not have looked right at him while singing "i want to take you home, i want to give you children etc." the other night.
he must've thought me a horrendous person :)
I emailed the Sunday Service yesterday about L'Amour Est Bleu. That melody has been stuck in my head as an earworm for years and years, but I had no idea what it was or where I had heard it, no lyrics to go with the melody or anything. Then I heard it on Saturday night along with the first of the videos and now I finally know what it was! I was going to add a comment about Jarvis looking so tentative, saying thank you for coming and being so nice to us, saying we're nice to them because they are so nice to us. Whatever else may happen on some occasions, they never fail to put in loads of effort and extra bits and pieces. But I chickened out as it was too emotionally effusive for me - most things are too emotionally effusive for me so that's not saying a great deal. This just proves I should write Geeky Girl on my picture I suppose! Anyway, the point of writing this here is maybe someone less repressed than me would like to write something reciprocal about being nice to them because they are so nice to us.

Well I have emailed my efforts to Lauren. I couldn't take a pic as I still have a cut on my head from where I slipped on the ice last week. Instead I used a pic from Wireless. That should do the trick. Perhaps turning it into a 'Thank You' card may be a good suggestion as God knows when they will get it.
Hi guys - as far as I can see it's only myself and rawrsomesauce who can do the photo at Bar Italia, and we need a camera, and someone to take the photo.
Would it be easier to get a picture of Bar Italia with randoms, and photoshop some of the 5 faces emailed onto the faces of people sat in the window at the time? To make it look good it could be done in a cheesy way by making the heads bigger than they actually should be?
If possible we could have those 5 people posing in the same way as on the Common People cover.
If there's only 2 of you, maybe you could just pose in Bar Italia looking really wasted after a night out, heaping sugar into your coffee, that kind of thing ...

Yeah no I think the picture would look best in front of bar italia but the seats there don't facilitate that kind of picture as well. Unless you did it out front. I was just unsure what the idea was. Never mind me!

Hmmmm what to say?! This is going to need some thought. I'm guessing we can run off a few different versions & send them to whoever really. When I thought 'Pulp' I was thinking everybody. Normally the management company deal with fanmail so I guess Rough Trade is the place to go. but.... what to say??? Hmmmmmm...
Okay here's a few colour schemes for the inside. You can tell me if you like them or hate them or have any other ideas :) The placement of the signatures still need working out but I'm leaving space for me and Ruby. The shame, I've nagged you all to sign and haven't got round to it myself! By the way I haven't properly sized up all the signatures yet so don't worry if yours looks a little blury, it will be fixed.
A few Different Class era inspired stuff:
and some This is Hardcore type stuff. The font isn't quite right - I don't have the exact verson of Helvetica used on the cover but I can get it. (Is it even noticable that it's different to people who didn't spend four years studying type???)
I also like the idea of something Party Hard themed with rainbow text but let me know what you think 'coz that's a pain to mock up ha ha.
