I'm glad you've sorted things out Jaz. I wonder what room they're going to give you though if just earlier today they were over booked. Did they say how they were going to fix it?
They weren't overbooked but there was some sort of issue where they had to cancel all bookings from the 1st to the 10th but the rooms are still available or something. I don't really get it but if you phone them soon then they WILL make sure you are given a room (Callum and others affected). Though I only phoned them after I paniced and bought another room somewhere else so I'll be staying at The Edge. Still definitely ring ASAP.

An email I just received from Russell Scott Hostel:
"You made a reservation at our hostel on the above date, due to circumstances beyond our control we are unable to honour your booking. Please accept our sincerest apologies for not being able to accommodate you on this occasion, we look forward to being able to welcome you in the future.
As a gesture of goodwill we are offering you a 20% reduction on any future reservation you make.
If you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind regards
Emmanuel
Russell Scott Hostels"
Has anyone else got this message? Genuinely think I'll have to sell my ticket, cos there is no way I can afford anywhere else. Fuck.
What a cop out of an email. I'll be well pissed off if that's the only explanation I got. If you can hold out until eight am Sunday morning that's when the trains start again.
I don't know how many rooms they've got left or if they will over-book like the Russell Scott hostel, but I suppose at this late stage, it's worth a shot.

Hush, keep very still, for the strangest things are about to happen.

What's happening with you Jazza, are you staying at Russell Scott? I rang them and they said they were having to close the hostel cos of massive plumbing problems, but they said as I'd booked into a dormitory they might be able to fit me in? Said they'd ring me back but still haven't heard anything...
Hehe also 'Russell pulling out at the last minute', that's a good'un!
I do hope they manage to squeeze me in. If not then it's going to be me looking for a 24 hour cafe, because there is absolutely no way I can afford a hotel room, it's just gonna be me by myself. Even sitting in MacDonalds and buying a coffee every hour will be cheaper than a hotel room. Grim.
Unfortunately, hostels do regularly do this sort of thing. They habitually overbook. Travelodge is a similar offender, too. But with that one, you won't find out 'til you actually turn up! My advice to anyone there is...turn up early!
