Getting it from Twitter, wasn't looking like a 'rarities' gig until My Lighthouse, Little Girl and Countdown were all played! Update!

no no no not comfirmed - not from me anyway. Someone else wrote it and I was just confirming that I thought they might, but perhaps I have read it wrong? Something about people being interviewed for the extras? retrack any comments that I may have made!

Hope everyone going has an amazing night and that they play a wicked set. I'd love to be going but it'd be impossible to make it all happen today. Having seen Pulp at leeds last year I'm glad to have seen them at least once.
I dunno, she said she got interviewed for the extras on it. If they just want hits on the DVD they can always edit out the rarer songs they might play (though I would hope they don't). I hope it's true though. I'd love them to put out something like that.

They also soundchecked Born to Cry! Stephen, I'm still really holding out for a surprise appearance from Russell tonight even though I know it probably won't happen. If this really is their "farewell" gig it's awful to think he won't be there at all.

Hey all,
About to leave for the Motorpoint arena! I flew out from the states as my boyfriend got me tickets for this show for my birthday (which is tomorrow). I'm so excited!! This is gonna be the best birthday present ever!

The future that you've got mapped out is nothing much to shout about.
Wow, Born to Cry, that means Richard Hawley playing with them but that was expected. If they play The Last Day of the Miners Strike or Grandfathers Nursery (not very possible) I'm going to have a nervous breakdown. This is going to be epic!
The pre-gig vids were the Glen Marshall stuff, aye. Good setlist, but less rarities than I expected. Sad about not seeing Little Girl, but not arsed about Born to Cry. Hope everyone enjoyed it all tho!
(oh and if anyone by the blue doors heard a girl loudly exclaim "OH MY GOSH THEY'RE GOING TO DO COUNTDOWN IT'S MY FAVOURITE" during the sound check that was me :P)
That was amazing! I was right at the front! A Little Soul!!
On the way back to the hostel some mental guys tried to mug/beat me up, but I outran them! A somehow fitting end to the evening (though fucking terrifying)
Oh no Calum! Sounds like it was a lucky escape. It took us bloody ages to get back to the city centre. What a silly place to put an arena!
Great show. I would easily have swapped 'Born To Cry' for 'She's A Lady' but nevermind! Now I have to put up with noisey folk in the Jury's in. They are setting off the fire extinguishers etcs. It's a bit annoying!

That would be the 'Being Followed Home' experience. Glad you're safe.
What an incredible show. For anyone wondering, Underwear, Monday Morning, This Is Hardcore, The Trees, Born To Cry, My Lighthouse, Countdown, Little Girl, Wickerman, S:SC and First Time were soundchecked.
I got hit square in the head by one of Mark's thrown toilet rolls. It was amazing to hear Help The Aged too, I've been wanting to hear it for ages. Me and Jazza were interviewed for the DVD (twice), and one of the cameras was focused on me during Born To Cry and Mis-Shapes (and probably more) so I'll probably be on the DVD (or a 'film', those who were interviewed had to sign release forms).

Didn't you say things go better with a little bit of razzmatazz?
What a great night.
Must admit I only remembered bits when just reading it on here.
I was going pretty wild too... apologies.
Remember getting told to be quiet whilst Jarvis was chatting... sorry!! :(
Mentioning the Mark blip in Babies - can't hear it here, one cool thing that Webbo did on Babies was during the outro when he had switched over to the keys and played a nice, fast-paced phrase played along to the "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah's" - it was really great.
Actually, the ornamentation on a couple of the songs - (I can't think of all of them but there were certainly songs that had little riffs here and there that haven't been played previously or on record) or just different sounds like the dirty effect Mark got on his guitar for Little Girl were another nice little highlight.
Jarvis also added a line, or a few words to the end of some song that, (again, can't quite recall the song right now) made me think it was from an earlier draft of the lyrics in question. Or maybe he just came up with something new on the spot. Might offer the tiniest grain of hope for new stuff!
My point to this ramble is that it's great to hear the band play around a little bit with the arrangement and sound when they feel like it adds to the song as it generally works. And it probably freshens it up for them too.

I could hear the violin every so often but not very well. I noticed the vocals and bass were much louder than everything else at some points, especialy at the begining.
What actually happened during Party Hard? Was it a problem with Marks guitar? It sounded so different.
I think this christmas thing has to be a recording of the gig. I'm 100% convinced they'll be no new music. Obviously I'll happily take this back if I'm wrong! But at least with this line of thinking I'll never be disapointed.

I enjoyed it but there was too much Different Class as usual. The highlight was definitely the time travel set with toilet roll . I was never the biggest fan of Born To Cry but thought it sounded amazing live, a nice surprise.
It was just a lovely, lovely evening, nice to bump into a few of you during the evening around the place. It all seems to go past so quickly even though it was ages. The Leadmill was fun too, a bit of a pilgrimage really if that's not too dramatic. The young receptionist on the counter in the hotel this morning when we were checking out looked rather shocked that such old people were engaging in youth culture.
The toilet roll was visions of Shooting Stars! Not sure they would get many points for throwing like girls last night though.
We saw Jarvis and Kim getting their tickets from the machine in Sheffield station this morning too while we staring at the board looking for our train. A group of girlies were very excitably getting their picture taken with him. I nearly missed him, a couple of minutes earlier I had been startled by seeing a chap go past who at first glance resembled him superficially and when I looked properly, wasn't.

Great to hear Countdown and Sheffield Sex City. Not enough from His N' Hers though and gutted that there was no Pink Glove (I guess partly due to Russell's absence and the fact that it went down like a lead balloon with the casual fans in Hyde Park). Would have like to have heard MLG too, but you can't have everything. I thought the acoustics were pretty poor - but it was fun, the bog roll was a nice touch! I was at the first Brixton night last year, which was amazing, definitely one of Pulp's best ever performances, but this was a great gig and miles better than Hyde Park.
I had a wonderful time :) Would have loved to have heard Wickerman and Trees, and I agree the set list was a little Different Class heavy, but all in all it was a pretty special night. I was about 5 rows from the front, over to the right. Some people near me were clearly just there to hear the hits, ( two blokes I was standing by were glued to their phones most of the night and left after Common People ) but plenty of people were loving every song. Razzmatazz was probably the highlight for me, great to hear Little Girl with Blue Eyes too!
Yup - absolutely brilliant night (I couldn't be arsed to go to the leadmill after). Shame there weren't more rarities but still amazing. Caught one of Mark's loo roll and interviewed twice! I started getting teary at Common People and burst into tears (rather fittingly) during Born To Cry (also painfully aware one of the cameramen was filming me so if a DVD does get released I'm going to come across as an emotional wreck). Did anyone mention the bow at the end? Apparently Candida's idea but sadly did seem to imply the end
I thought it was a brilliant night - not perfect, because there wasn't enough from His n Hers, no OU and no Russell, but one of the best gigs of my life, let alone Pulp gigs. We had a great view, room to dance and I sang my heart out. Can't wait to hopefully relive it with these MP3s and the DVD (or Blu ray hopefully).

Shit! That's a bit scary. Only "trouble" I had was some fifteen year old drunk loner wandering up to me and saying "ere, can I shaaag yer biiird?" but that was it.

We must have been in the station at the same time as my friends spotted Jarvis & then a few minutes later I must have seen the same bloke you are on about! I walked around the corner and got such a start when for that split second I thought I was face to face with Jarvis!
Also thanks to everyone who kept me company during the queue! Saw, were you by the red doors? I didn't see you
Well I saw you! I arrived at about 5 and was inbetween sarah and salmon in the queue but when I went in I noticed you lot near stage left and I have a bad left ear so with no Russell I wasn't gonna risk it and went stage right.
It was a brilliant night as expected. The highlights for me were Countdown and Razzmatazz. A few disappointments though. The obvious Arena atmosphere and a lot of idiots in the crowd. I enjoyed the rarities but they've all been played before and there wasn't anything extra special. I would've traded Born to cry/My Lighthouse/Like a friend for some stuff off Separations or Sisters. The saddest thing was only 2 songs from His n' hers! No Pink Glove, Joyriders or She's a lady. Happy Endings would've been a perfect ending.
That all sounds really negative but I did have a great night and it would've been in my top 5 Pulp gigs. The Leadmill was fun too!

Oh, another great thing about last night - from what I could see no one assisted Candida onto the stage (it was hard to make it out behind the curtain but I was at the right angle to just see behind it) and she looked very well. My sister commented that she looked like an christmas tree angel in her sparkly jumper.
For me there was like others have said, Positive and Negative things......
They seemed to be on form, very few bum notes and seemed to really enjoy the gig - even when Mark cocked up during babies, Jarvis's " too early " during the lyrics made me chuckle. Far too Different Class orientated, yes it was nice to see some others from TIH played, but for me the band lost the audience during the "time warp" - which mind I dont give a fuck what the "casuals" think - I loved hearing Little Girl / ML / Countdown live.
To see the gig recorded - WOW, and then these christmas cards teasing a potential pre order / mp3 download / new material. I also got the distinct inpression that this wasnt the last time we have seen of Pulp - there was no "goodbye" ala magna style saying we dont know when we will see you again etc........ no door was left closed or half open.

Did you manage to find a place to stay then? I dunno since Jarvis did mention Magna and what about the bow?! I really hope you're right though
I wouldn't change a single thing about the night. Yeah, there's certain songs I would have love to hear but it doesn't matter. When I first really got into Pulp in 2008 I never dreamt I'd get the chance to see them live. And now I have, in the place where it all began and I had the best time of my life and even got to hear Countdown, the lyrics that mean the most to me. It was brilliant.
I don't think anyone's mentioned it yet, but what about Jarvis's "We've taken a while to get here Sheffield, but save the best until last" or something like that?

Did he? I was watching him for most of the night and the only song he cocked up on was "Party Hard" and that was not necessarily his fault. I did noticed that towards the end he was suffering really quite badly. He was rubbing ice on his hands and flexing them vigourously and he looked physically exhausted.
Yeah he said "save the best til last" - but again - thats really too vague, maybe im clutching at straws.
Yeah he cocked up ill link the youtube video sarah - its funny - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mazbdMymwB0 2mins 48secs in.
I managed to get a hotel in Chesterfield, £39 quid for the night, it was actually an ok place!!!! £20 for a taxi from Sheffield centre though, but a roof is a roof !!!
Im just curious as to why IF it was the final gig, it wasnt much of a "this is the last you will see of us, we will meet again who knows when, live on" kinda thing.
He also forgot the "stomachs in, chest out" bit from Monday Morning initially... not that I'm complaining, he worked very hard last night and was amazing!
I think this christmas present must be a new song - regardless of whether they're continuing or not. A link to a DVD or live material wouldn't be worth the effort surely.

Hello Jazza ! Was lovely to meet you in the queue - sorry that I was a bit over excitable and near hysterical. Was very impressed with your queue system skills! Glad that you managed to get a decent spot. We went to the right and got just near where the speakers were. Amusingly Jarvis came right down and got to the person next to me during I spy and then turned the camera on himself ( if i didnt know better i could get a complex!) All the best tshirts had sold by the time I got out.....had to make do with a tea towel!
Pretty envious of anyone on Steve's side last night. He looked super handsome. I'm still sad I couldn't go but the plane ticket from LA to England is too extravagant (esp when I'm trying to save money for grad school. Even if it WAS for Pulp) I'm almost more sad about not getting to meet up with some of you guys than the show, though the setlist seemed pretty decent (you got more rarities than Radio City). I'm really glad everyone had a good time though. It seems like it was a great show.
I'm really really hoping the christmas card thing is a new song, but I just don't know how likely that really is...

Am I alone in thinking that this may be a ticket to a smaller gig? Maybe wishful thinking but it would certainly be a way of targeting genuine fans (and no touts) - I don't know how many they were handing out but I doubt they printed 14 000
I too was hoping for that Jazza but it seems they had 1000's of 'em and the website you're directed too definitely says 'mp3's coming soon', but god did I want it to be an invite to an intimate show.
Mark's guitar was out of tune and the roadie was slow at sorting it out. Jarvis', ever the pro, kept things going with his "Hard" intonating on the mega-phone.

He also does some cool stuff on the keyboard for I Spy. Sounds slightly middle -eastern.
